About the Vertical: Based in New Delhi, India, Planning and Policy Domain (PPD) of DA Group has a mandate to influence and support public policy in the transition towards sustainable development by connecting practice with policy. It develops innovative policy and practice oriented research to guide policymakers and domestic/international leaders, who develop high-impact policies that will address our national/worldwide most pressing Natural Resource Management/ Climate change related challenges.
Our focus area are Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy (sustainable habitats and green building materials, waste management – plastics, water, C&D waste); Climate Change Resilience & Biodiversity Conservation (Climate Change Adaptation : water/Agriculture, Climate Finance & SDG-CC Inter Linkages); and Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Security (Agriculture and FPOs, Access to Housing, Eco-Tourism, Green MSMEs and Jobs, Equity and Resource Sufficiency)
Job Description and Expected Outputs
DA intends to engage a Learning and Development (L&D) Consultant with the objective to strategise interventions toward knowledge monetisation and earn revenues from products and services based on DA’s ongoing works, knowledge systems, and capacities, and providing planning and implementation support for such work.
- To attain this broad objective, the consultant shall work on the following specific objectives:
- To identify the broad market canvas in the Capacity Building Space and strategise the pathway for DA’s involvement in the space.
- To conceptualise and render the overall work plan with concrete tasks and financial budgets.
- To define tasks and responsibilities for the programmatic development of the initiative and take actions to implement the work plan.
- To evaluate tentative revenues that can be generated from the identified area of intervention.
- To identify key resource persons/ vendors required for the implementation of such work.
You would work in a highly interdisciplinary team in a very dynamic environment and would be encouraged to look at possible opportunities across systems, sectors, and scales to design and implement this programme. You would be expected to further our ambitious efforts to advance the organization’s agenda by disseminating our work and engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders nationwide, including researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and institutions of higher education.
Job Responsibilities
The Consultant shall be responsible for overall development for the training and capacity building programme, including strategic development and financial planning. The L&D Consultant will support curriculum and content development, curriculum design, and partnerships and outreach. Curriculum strategy and design include content development, research and writing work, designing learning material, and creative thinking. Outreach and partnerships will include marketing, social media, and communications. Programme management will include maintaining project quality and timelines and guiding the implementation of programme activities.
Strategic and Financial Planning
- The conceptualisation of an overall strategy for programme development including planning a road map for implementation and operation of the programme as a profitable business.
- Financial Planning of the overall programme including estimation of investments required for rolling out of the programme, estimated revenue generation for DA, profitability and budgeting.
- Identification of appropriate partners and customers for implementing the programme.
- Identify courses that can be offered in various spaces including mapping potential courses aligning with DA’s work, evaluating their level of readiness and estimating investments required for the preparation and delivery of courses.
Marketing & Outreach
- Build a repository and database of potential clients, partners, and customers including, but not limited to, corporate executives and CSR managers and/or CSOs, officials from government departments and local panchayats, students and faculty at the university level, etc.
- Setting up systems and processes for marketing & strategic communications and outreach for partners and clients including social media and other channels.
- Designing specific targeted strategies and action plans to reach identified markets and partners with lucrative proposals and pitch development as per identified areas of intervention.
- Reach out to identified stakeholders and maintain a checklist that will be shared and reviewed with the DA team at periodic intervals.
Content Development
- Identification of high potential modules in consultation with the DA team based on the work done by DA in different projects and as per market demands including curricula for academic institutions.
- Mapping and definition of all the activities required for conversion of knowledge into deliverable products/modules.
- Identification of potential vendors for development of modules and development of ToR and financial budget for vendors. The conversion cost of the module will be analyzed and shall be shared with the DA team for final review. Separate contracts will be awarded to identified vendors after consultation with the senior management of DA.
- Providing guidance to vendors in producing modules in appropriate media as per the project requirements.
- Market analysis and design of systems for revenue estimation from each module for fixing competitive selling price for individual modules with final review and approval by DA.
- Final quality check of content developed by the vendor before submission to DA as the final product.
- Piloting and testing of the final products/modules with identified partners including reviewing and reporting of the pilot testing to identify the challenges, areas of improvement and insights to develop better products and expand outreach.
Desirable Attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in programme development and management, financial planning, partnership building and outreach.
- Relevant experience and/or interest in content/curriculum design and facilitation.
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills and understanding of content development, including experience in writing and translating technical topics into lucid/easy-to-read format.
- Deep interest in issues of sustainability, climate change, environmental sciences, inclusive development.
- Knowledge about the market demands for knowledge products and capacity-building work, including university curricula design.
- Highly entrepreneurial, self-starter.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage and enjoy working on multiple work streams simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with a high degree of empathy.
- Proficient in Hindi and English- reading, writing and speaking.
- Comfortable with travelling for work
