A little bit about who we are
At WOTR, we are committed to tackling the key causes of rural poverty by rejuvenating ecosystems and building the community’s resilience to climate change by enhancing water availability, increasing land and agricultural productivity, diversifying livelihoods, empowering women, and strengthening the health and well-being of vulnerable rural communities.
WOTR brings together practitioners, academics, researchers, trainers, and policy makers to work collaboratively in building the resilience of rural communities. Our partners, including donors and government agencies stand resolutely behind us to effect this.
To date we have worked in 10 states in 5107 villages and impacted 4.95 million people in our 30 years of existence.

Who are we looking for?
W-CReS (WOTR Centre for Resilience Studies) is currently engaged in various action research studies that involve technical, social as well as policy assessments in the water sector, and stakeholder engagement process with communities. These studies are primarily focused on water resource development and management through the Ecosystem-based Adaptation Approach.
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher who has track experience and expertise in conducting studies and developing scientific and academic writings in the water sector in English. The candidate will work in a team on contributing to developing various research proposals and outputs.
As an Associate Researcher you will:
- Design and execute research studies related to water resources with a multidisciplinary approach.
- Provide inputs in writing research proposals, research reports and articles, papers, and documents for donor requirements, and other publications.
- Create content related to research including policy briefs, info-briefs, and other products such as blogs, workshops, training material/manuals, training, meeting reports, etc.
- Periodically undertake field visits in Maharashtra and other states for data collection, conducting training and workshops, etc.
- Take an active part in designing and conducting trainings, workshops, and conferences as well as developing different products of these events.
Apply if you have:
- A Master’s degree in water resource development or management/ water policy and governance/ water regulations/ Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)/ applied hydrology/ and Geology
- At least 2 years of experience in writing scientific/technical reports, research articles, papers, etc
- At least 3 independent (Single or lead author) writings in terms of reports, papers, blogs, or articles.
- Familiarity with Govt. programs and policies in the water sector in India
- Fluency in English writing and speaking is a must. Communicating in Hindi, at least at a basic level, will be an added advantage
- Familiarity with climate change and its impacts on water resources
