Qualifications and desirable skills
A post-graduate degree with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience, or possess a graduate degree with 6-7 years of experience in disciplines such as Sociology, Social Anthropology, Social Science, Natural Resources Management, and related fields. Experience in working with local communities, as well as managing human-wildlife conflict, preferably within an NGO or similar organization, is highly desirable.
. Knowledge of social science research techniques including structured and unstructured surveys.
. Skills in working closely with local community stakeholders, specifically in capacity development and sensitization of stakeholders, and organizing village meetings, training, and workshops to engage local communities in HWC mitigation activities.
· Skills in technical reporting and monitoring and evaluation.
· Knowledge of the local cultural, social context and social issues due to HWC in Central India is highly desirable.
· Ability to multi-task and ability to create and work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English. Candidates with robust communication skills in the local language will be preferred.
Broad responsibilities include
· Implement all project related activities assigned, as per the Work Plan/Project Implementation Plan of project.
· Organize village meetings and workshops during and after human-wildlife conflict incidents.
· Conduct training workshops for select community volunteers to undertake large carnivore and elephant monitoring, patrolling, dissemination of information, etc.
· Collect detailed data where required in villages reporting human-wildlife conflicts.
· Coordinate with the Green Corridor Champions (GCCs), Primary Response Teams (PRT) along with the GCC/PRT in capacity building, trainings and community engagement in high conflict areas.
· Collect data of all the conflict cases attended/handled, conduct pre-emptive and post conflict amelioration meetings with stakeholders at the villages and feed into the centralized monitoring system.
· Responsible for qualitative implementation of all community based intervention programmes including socio economic surveys, cropping pattern change/improvements, selection of beneficiaries with consultation, awareness building among villagers, women and children and volunteers and driving behavioral changes.
· Liaise with relevant government line departments, and other agencies as required.
· Report periodically about work progress, through compiled monthly reports, and communicate to concerned line manager.
· Responsible for generating all field reports, photographic documentation, submission of data sheets etc., as per the requirements of the Reporting Manager.
· Provide content for website and participate in dissemination and outreach.
