**Job Overview**

 

The Block Coordinator (s) will play a crucial role in the success of Room to Read’s Foundational Literacy initiative in Jharkhand, India. You will work closely with the Program Associate to engage with schools, government officials, and non-profit partners to ensure effective implementation of the program. 

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* **On-ground implementation:**

    * Develop a comprehensive understanding of Room to Read’s Literacy program design.

    * Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders including PEEOs, CBEOs, and other government officials.

    * Collaborate with teachers, PEEOs, and CBEOs to implement literacy program innovations.

    * Identify operational challenges and suggest solutions to the Program Associate.

    * Lead monthly meetings with PEEOs and ensure effective communication and coordination.

    * Implement community engagement plans and participate in events, campaigns, and trainings.

* **Technical Support, Monitoring, and Data Collection:**

    * Assist the Program Associate in planning and delivering monthly review meetings, ensuring comprehensive documentation and data provision.

    * Serve as a resource person for teacher training.

    * Conduct regular school visits to provide technical support to teachers and PEEOs, and collect data.

    * Monitor program performance against key indicators and submit timely reports according to the M&E framework.

* **Communication and Documentation:**

    * Document and communicate program achievements and outcomes through reports and notes.

    * Manage program documentation including approvals, letters, and other relevant materials.

    * Contribute to the preparation of regular reports (monthly, quarterly, and yearly) including program data, case studies, and best practices.

    * Document on-ground learnings and knowledge to support capacity building among coalition partners.

 

**Qualifications:**

 

* Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent required.

* 1-3 years of work experience in the development sector.

* Demonstrated experience in on-ground program implementation.

* Strong understanding of Foundational Literacy concepts.

* Experience working with the government in the education sector and teacher training.

* Fluency in Hindi (spoken, written, and reading) required.

* Basic communication in English preferred.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to adapt to changing situations and work independently.

* Strong interpersonal and networking skills.

* Ability to work under tight deadlines.
