## Job Description: Manager – Program Management Group

**About the Program Management Group:**

 

The Program Management Group (PMG) at Pratham is responsible for fundraising, fund management, and program management for the organization’s education programs. The group plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient delivery and success of these programs through strong project management, donor relations, and internal coordination.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join Pratham as the Manager – Program Management Group. This role will involve leading a team overseeing donor relations and operations for a designated set of education programs. The Manager will be responsible for:

 

* **Fund-raising Support:** Supporting fund-raising efforts by creating proposals for new donors, defining program objectives, and conceptualizing implementation models.

* **Donor Relations:** Building and maintaining strong relationships with donors, providing regular progress reports, and engaging in strategic planning.

* **Program Management:** Overseeing the efficient implementation of assigned programs by working closely with state and program teams, ensuring timely and targeted delivery of outcomes.

* **Financial Management:** Tracking program budgets, ensuring expenditures align with plans, and managing any deviations effectively.

* **Internal Coordination:** Facilitating seamless communication and collaboration between various teams within Pratham.

* **Team Leadership:** Providing mentorship, guidance, and support to a team of PMG Associates and Senior Associates, fostering their professional development.

* **Process Improvement:** Contributing to the development and strengthening of internal systems and processes for donor management, program planning, reporting, and documentation.

* **Government and Partner Relations:** Engaging with government agencies and other partners as needed.

* **Other responsibilities as assigned.**

 

**Desired Qualifications and Experience:**

 

* 4-6 years of prior work experience in a similar, client-facing role in private sector firms, NGOs, or foundations with a strong interest in education policy and implementation.

* Demonstrated commitment to Pratham’s core values: perpetual learning, outcome-driven approach, evidence-based decision making, people-centric culture, agility, simplicity, frugality, and inclusivity.

* Willingness to travel extensively in rural areas of India, often with limited amenities.

* Ability to establish rapport with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.

* Proven experience in team management, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Proficiency in Hindi or at least 1-2 other regional languages is preferred.

* Strong quantitative and analytical skills, employing a systems-thinking approach to identify and recommend improvements.

* Ability to take initiative and work effectively in unstructured or ambiguous environments.

* Willingness to commit to at least 3-5 years of work with Pratham.

 

**Preferred Qualifications:**

 

* Prior experience in the non-profit sector.

* Coursework in international development or management.

* Past experience of managing teams for at least 2 years.

* Experience living and working in a developing country.
