India Health Action Trust (IHAT) is a Charitable Trust established in 2003 with the mission to improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalized populations by tackling health and social inequities.  IHAT develops comprehensive and sustainable programs to enhance public health, working closely with the Government of India and state governments like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Delhi. 

 

IHAT’s work focuses on:

 

* Prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis

* Improvement in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (RMNCH)

* Enhanced nutrition for mothers and children

* Strengthening health systems

 

IHAT leverages program science to optimize and scale public health programs while partnering with governments and communities. 

 

**Job Location:** Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India

 

**Job Summary:**

 

The Program Associate will report to the State Head-Madhya Pradesh and will be responsible for supporting the state team in developing and executing projects related to Maternal and Child Health (MNCH). This includes:

 

* Monitoring program implementation against project plans

* Building partnerships with other development organizations for improved MNCH service delivery

* Attending monthly review meetings to analyze program indicators and address challenges

* Conducting field visits to monitor district staff work and provide mentorship

* Building capacity of Nurse Mentors and frontline workers to ensure program progress and documentation

* Supporting proposal development, policy analysis presentations, and drafting government orders in Hindi

* Performing other duties as assigned by the line manager

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

 

* Monitor program implementation against the project plan

* Establish strong partnerships with other development partners to enhance MNCH service delivery

* Attend monthly review meetings to analyze program indicators, ensure adherence to the program plan, and support district teams in overcoming challenges

* Conduct field visits to facilities and communities to monitor the work of district staff and provide mentorship

* Build the capacity of Nurse Mentors/Front Line workers to monitor progress and ensure necessary documentation

* Support the development of proposal documents in Hindi/English, policy analysis presentations, and draft relevant government orders in Hindi as required 

* Any other duties as assigned by the line manager

 

**Work Experience:**

 

* Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Maternal & Child Health

* Experience working with government and international organizations/bilateral agencies

 

**Education:**

 

* Medical/Para-Medical graduate (AYUSH/BPT/BOT/BSc Nursing/BPharma) with a postgraduate degree in public health/Masters in Public Health/Health Administration or Hospital Management.

* **Conceptual and Analytical Skills:**

    * Experience in activity planning & monitoring processes for organizations

    * Demonstrated cross-cultural, teamwork skills and ability to anticipate issues and take appropriate action

    * Experience in strengthening the programmatic capacity of an organization, particularly in facility interventions and systems development

* **Leadership and Management:**

    * Demonstrated leadership and managerial experience, preferably in a healthcare setting

    * Experience in building relationships and working with multi-disciplinary state and division level teams, Government officials, and external partners

* **Communication Skills:**

    * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation, persuasive ability, and report writing in English and Hindi

    * Capacity to deliver complex messages to various audiences

    * Proven ability to conceptualize, analyze, innovate, plan and execute ideas

 

**Travel Requirements:** 30% travel is expected
