## Deputy Director – Finance 

 

**Breakthrough Trust** is a non-profit organization dedicated to using arts and culture to transform gender norms and combat violence against women and girls. We work with nearly 1.5 million adolescents in schools and communities across India, fostering a generational shift towards a gender-equal culture. 

 

**Job Location:** Delhi, India

 

**Experience Required:**

 

* **Charted Accountant (FCA)** with 12-14 years’ experience in a complex finance function within a Non-profit, donor or implementing organization.

* Experience of managing FCRA and Non-FCRA funds with 4-6 years’ experience in a senior role.

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

 

* **Financial Policy and Systems:**

    * Ensure an appropriate financial policy and implementation framework is in place to guide Breakthrough’s financial decision-making.

    * Maintain accurate and separate accounting for FCRA and non-FCRA funds.

    * Implement and optimize Tally and grant management software.

    * Manage payroll and related activities.

* **Financial Planning and Management:**

    * Lead the process of setting and reviewing annual budgets and forecasts.

    * Provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.

    * Conduct regular variance analysis of performance against budget.

    * Develop, deliver, and monitor organizational financial strategy and plans.

* **Proposal and Resource Mobilisation:**

    * Lead pre-grant due diligence for prospective donors.

    * Develop new budgets to support the Resource Mobilisation Team.

    * Prepare Bi-Annual/Quarterly/Monthly Financial Reports as per donor requirements.

* **Statutory and Compliances:**

    * Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including FCRA, IT provisions, Professional tax, Service tax, and other relevant Indian legal and statutory provisions.

    * Prepare statutory annual accounts, ensure audits, and file relevant reports.

    * Provide advice on taxes, accounting policies, and legislative changes.

* **Other:**

    * Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time.

 

**Skills, Competencies & Experience Required:**

 

* Awareness of tax and legal issues relating to Societies and Trust Act of India.

* Excellent working knowledge of accounting systems (Tally, Financial Accounting etc.).

* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

* Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to innovate and manage risks.

* Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize a diverse and demanding workload, and meet deadlines.

* Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication (written and verbal in Hindi and English) skills.
