**Job Summary:**

As Global Senior Lead for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Restoration (ARR) projects, you will play a crucial leadership role in driving South Pole’s global ARR strategy. You will provide technical expertise, act as a leading technical advisor for existing and pipeline projects, and offer global guidance and support to the overall ARR portfolio. This role requires a balance of direct involvement in large projects across our global regions and engagement with ARR topics (methodologies, technical issues, quality control, media and public scrutiny) across relevant teams.

**Responsibilities:**

* Lead, support, and contribute to global and strategic ARR/IFM topics crucial to South Pole or at the center of media/client attention (definition of quality criteria, implementation strategy, relation with standards).

* Ensure full alignment, clear communication, and proactive coordination on ARR topics with all Regional Project teams and key stakeholders.

* Support the evaluation of ARR/IFM projects under the new Quality Assurance and Quality Check (QA/QC) process in coordination with the Project Risk team.

* Help ensure the effectiveness of the QA/QC process through the development and implementation of appropriate tools, processes, guidelines, or frameworks.

* Interact across relevant teams within the business line to constantly review and adjust quality criteria for ARR/IFM projects.

* Provide technical support and coordination with regional teams on the development and validation of projects and updates regarding new approaches, tools, and processes for ARR project design.

* Lead the work and implementation of key projects with significant strategic and/or commercial value.

* Initiate necessary follow-up to methodological standards updates and new standards and approaches: produce SOPs and training.

* Ensure consistency and quality across South Pole’s ARR portfolio by checking with regional focal points the appropriate use and implementation of defined processes and tools.

* Support all commercial conversations when required, including involvement in client meetings, exhibitions, and other corporate events.

* Represent South Pole in Standards working groups and different forums on the ARR/IFM topic, NBS, and environmental markets.

* Help establish the CAD/benchmark budget assessment for the ARR/IFM topic, initially focusing on VCS+CCB and The Gold Standard, and propose a person-days structure for new standards based on experience.

* Support the development and improvement of the Project’s manual co-development, as it relates to NBS, including content contribution, validation, and training with relevant stakeholders.

* Design and implement technical training plans aligned with the necessities and knowledge gaps identified in the regions.

* Lead the knowledge management program for ARR/IFM strategic/crucial and/or regular topics in coordination with regions, HR, and Operations teams.

* Proactively communicate and problem-solve with all other experts and directors within the Policy and Strategy team and the Regions/Projects.

* Drive innovation and entrepreneurship through leadership and decisive action within the global strategy team, including assessing potential projects/companies-related equity investments for consideration by the investment board and proposing potential corporate innovations to the investment board or to the South Pole regions.

**Essential Skills and Experience:**

* University degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Business, or another relevant discipline.

* Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including several years of experience in business development roles within the sustainability sector, specifically in the topics of NBS technology to remove carbon emissions.

* Previous entrepreneurial experience in a highly innovative sector, a technology company, or a start-up ecosystem.

* Know-how of global corporate best practices related to climate strategies, such as the Science Based Targets Initiative and Net Zero pledges.

* Experience in establishing clear performance targets and metrics, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding challenging targets.

* Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to establish a compelling vision for the ARR/ANR Strategy within the NBS Strategy unit.

* Strong business acumen, with the ability to structure and negotiate deals that are commercially sound and profitable for South Pole.

* Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to partner effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.

* Strong quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions.

* Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire action and get the best out of people.

* Ability to present ideas to executive/internal stakeholders regionally and globally.

* Ability to work on global and regional complex issues.

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Fluency in English.
