**Job Location:** Delhi/Bangalore/Mumbai, India

 

**Job Summary:**

 

WRI India seeks a senior policy researcher to lead and coordinate research activities within the Sustainable Cities program.  This role involves authoring and peer-reviewing key knowledge products related to urban policies, mentoring junior researchers, assisting with proposal writing, developing research collaborations, and participating in and managing research and policy convenings.  The successful candidate will report to the Director of the WRI India Ross Center for Sustainable Cities.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* Anchor the research strategy for the Sustainable Cities program.

* Conduct urban policy research and data analysis.

* Engage with stakeholders and collaborators.

* Mentor research teams.

* Assist with fundraising efforts, including proposal writing.

* Lead and contribute to the design and development of policy convenings.

* Co-develop thought pieces.

* Manage multiple projects and prioritize work effectively.

* Collaborate with the Director of Research on all Sustainable Cities research initiatives.

 

 

**Qualifications and Requirements:**

 

* An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in public policy, public administration, law, or urban planning.

* 15+ years of relevant experience.

* Experience working with government, civil society, research institutions, or the private sector on urban planning projects is desirable.

* A strong understanding of research processes, methods, and standards, with experience in interdisciplinary and applied research using mixed methods.

* Excellent writing, reasoning, and oral communication skills.

* Strong computer skills, including experience with referencing, research management, statistical, and geospatial software (preferred).

* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

* Self-motivated, proactive, and a strong learner.

* Demonstrated interest and knowledge of environmental and development issues in India and globally.

* Commitment to sustainable and equitable development.

 

 

**Duration:** 2 years (extendable based on performance and requirements)
