**Job Title:** Policy Manager – Health (Sector Lead) – J-PAL South Asia
**Organization:** The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) South Asia, based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in India.
**Job Location:** New Delhi, India
**About J-PAL:** J-PAL is a global research center dedicated to reducing poverty by ensuring that policy decisions are informed by scientific evidence. With a network of over 1,000 researchers worldwide, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to address critical poverty-related issues. J-PAL South Asia is one of seven regional offices, working to promote evidence-informed policy within the South Asian context.
**Job Summary:**
The Policy Manager will play a crucial role in J-PAL South Asia’s mission to promote evidence-informed policy within the health sector. This involves disseminating research findings, building relationships with government and civil society stakeholders, catalyzing the scale-up of effective projects, and contributing to the design of new research initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with J-PAL’s global policy team.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Support J-PAL’s policy team in disseminating evidence on health sector interventions to relevant stakeholders.
* Network with government partners, civil society organizations, donors, and media to understand policy priorities and promote evidence-based policymaking.
* Catalyze new randomized evaluation research by connecting innovative projects with J-PAL affiliated professors.
* Secure buy-in from governments and organizations to launch pilot projects and evaluations.
* Develop knowledge products (e.g., summaries, briefs, policy memos) synthesizing J-PAL’s health sector evaluation findings.
* Represent J-PAL South Asia at policy events and meetings.
* Track policy developments in the health sector and communicate these internally.
* Build and maintain relationships with key partners in government, NGOs, foundations, and multilateral agencies.
* Stay updated on relevant literature and policy developments. Lead the development and execution of the annual strategy for the health sector portfolio.
* Manage and mentor junior team members.
* Participate in cross-vertical collaborations.
**Qualifications:**
* Master’s degree in economics, public policy, health, or international development. A strong understanding of impact evaluations is preferred.
* Minimum four years of relevant experience in addition to the Master’s degree. Demonstrated experience in health policy or program evaluation is highly desirable.
* Understanding of randomized evaluations and their application to policy decisions.
* Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* High level of attention to detail.
* Strong interest in international development policy, South Asia development, and/or program evaluation.
* Fluency in English (written and oral). Fluency in an Indian language is preferred.
**Length of Commitment:** Minimum 24 months
