Position-Associate Principal, Short Term Advisory (Social Purpose Organizations)

Location – Mumbai, Bangalore and Gurgaon and will involve travel to different parts of the country. 

The Opportunity

We are hiring an Associate Principal to lead Short Term Advisory, a Business Unit under the Social Purpose Organizations (SPO) vertical.The SPO team works on designing and building solutions that address our customer needs and create measurable social impact. Some of our key offerings as part of Short Term Advisory includes (but not limited to) Organization and Program Strategy, Fundraising strategy, Market Landscape Research, Organization Design and Restructuring. These projects usually run for a period of upto 20 weeks and requires working hand in hand with the client in problem solving, engaging with multiple stakeholders, and contributing to research-based insights.

For this role, we are looking for a business leader who is driven by social impact and holds a strong bias towards realizing impact on-the-ground. The candidate will be an integral part of the larger Social Purpose Organization Business Unit’s leadership team, and contribute towards the long-term growth of the organization and unit. 

Key roles and responsibilities

Driving Business Development

• Keep abreast of new and current trends within the social impact space
• Refine and steer the strategy to expand customer base by working with the BU’s leadership
• Work closely with prospective clients, business development and sales teams to ensure accurate scope of works, high quality approach and accurate effort estimation
• Anchor external conversations with potential partners and stakeholders 

Ensuring Delivery Excellence

• Influence decision making and action at the senior level of high impact organizations to enable positive and sustainable impact
• Anchor strategic questions throughout the initiative to recommend and align the way forward. 
• Complement on-ground perspectives and insights with a strong outside-in perspective
• Facilitate workshops and discussions with clients towards effective decision making 

Establishing systems and processes 

• Establish operating structures to enable coordination and distributed decision making in the business unit
• Work with project managers on robust project management across multiple engagements 
• Develop systems for ongoing monitoring and tracking of various engagement
• Setup routines to capture and codify learnings and insights from the projects 

Contributing to Sattva and Non-profit Advisory 

• Build on Sattva’s expertise of delivering value to non-profits, and grow our portfolio of products and services
• Be a key member of the Business Unit’s leadership team, contributing towards the long-term growth of both the non-profit business unit and larger institution
• Strengthen Sattva’s brand in the broader ecosystem by representing the organization in online and offline public forums, evangelizing our points of view 

Knowledge & Skills

• 12-15 years of relevant experience spanning the social impact ecosystem or private sector in leading transformation initiatives
• Experience in leading a business with P&L responsibilities, an entrepreneurial drive
• Prior experience in consulting, especially with non-profits, is strongly preferred
• Extremely strong problem-solving abilities in ambiguous environments
• Strong client engagement skills and working with senior leadership, the ability to influence decision making for high impact
• Humility, willingness to listen and learn
• Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
