PROJECT DETAILS
CARE India is implementing a project, namely the Kanya Sampurna Project (KSP) in Cuddalore district. KSP is implementing the project in Kattumannarkoil, Keerapalayam, Kammapuram, and Srimushnam blocks in the Cuddalore district. The project is aiming to focus on the following areas: (1) supporting early learners (3-5) with improved preschool activities at Anganwadi Centers, (2) strengthening the foundational learning skill of primary school children through quality schooling interventions, (3) improving science and math proficiency of middle school children through STEM interventions, and (4) contributing towards leadership potential of adolescents in communities and schools through empowered adolescent interventions. CARE will implement the project in Kattumannarkoil, Srimushnam, Keerapalayam, and Kammapuram blocks in the Cuddalore district. The project will work with 291 Anganwadi Centers, 258 primary schools, 67 primary schools, 35 high schools, and 23 Higher Secondary School. The project will reach over 45500 individuals in three years. Over 20,000 girls will benefit from life skill interventions.
JOB SUMMARY
CARE India’s Kanya Sampurna Project encompasses research and direct service programs focused on girls in STEM, particularly on encouraging girls to pursue STEM majors in college. The STEM Coordinator will report to the Program Manager to manage STEM Education at Middle schools (Class 6-8). STEM coordinator handles budget planning and execution, project planning and progress reporting and ensuring implementation of STEM program deliverables.
She/He will also support assessment of girls’ progression in curriculum and documentation of change story. Person will have a working relationship with the education team for various technical content and capacity building programs. The position handles documentation and management of MIS to track the session progress, participants’ details, besides supporting M&E person in carrying out periodic assessments.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and handhold the field team to strengthen STEM interventions (Science and Math) in 67 Middle School in three blocks.
- Map existing resources, and chart strategies to set up labs in Middle schools and handhold the teachers in using labs for building students’ knowledge on basic science and math concepts.
- Organize Training programs for the field staff, middle school teachers and BRCCs in collaboration with CSO team.
- Serve as the focal point for STEM programs; manage internal STEM project reporting tools, including weekly and quarterly progress reports, assist with ensuring projects stay on schedule and key deadlines are met.
- Manage the budget planning process by coordinating with the Program manager and track monthly expenses, ensuring expenses are on target.
- Manager the performance STEM facilitator, develop teacher mentoring plans, and building capacities of STEM educators to organize demonstration sessions at classrooms using science labs.
- Coordinate STEM programs with the CSO and project team for unified internal and external communication and branding of KSP’s STEM efforts.
- Manage the STEM block level resources team by working with the project STEM Educators and BRCCs team to plan meetings, coordinate outreach activities.
- Serve as a focal point for implementation of programmatic changes and coordinating team’s work to ensure smooth execution.
- Assist with event planning and coordination as necessary to meet project deliverables, particularly for supporting the children to take up STEM projects at Middle Schools.
- Provide counsel on marketing and outreach plans for STEM events, report launches and other STEM-related activities.
- Manage annual updates, documentation and facilitate document/form coordination with STEM educators.
- Oversee management of STEM project information in KSP database; oversee STEM Educators’ performance and data management capacities.
- Lead STEM Educator recruitment activities and manage consultants as needed.
- Perform other related/comparable duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Post graduate degree with 4 years of full-time professional work experience; higher education and/or STEM experience preferred.
- Experience managing and tracking projects and budgets.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Preferred
- Candidates with hands on experience in teachers’ development activities in science and math.
- Good facilitation skill and ability to develop lesson designs and training curriculum.
