The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.
The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Hyderabad commenced with a mission to deliver public health education, pursue research and advocacy and support policy development. It lays strong emphasis on pursuing public health policy, practice, training and research, positioning its programmes according to the public health priorities of the state and the nation. The institute has brought together a highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained and extremely motivated public health academics and practitioners. It aims to create an environment that supports excellence in instruction, research and practice.
Project Brief:
I-Hope is a collaborative five year project between LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and the Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad.
Aims & Objectives
- Generate new knowledge and disseminate the best practices in clinical research, health economics and Public Health in vision sciences through big data.
- Create a pool of trained clinician scientists with expertise at the intersection of above domains
- Develop a training center for clinicians to assess and perform research, evaluate cost-effectiveness and analyse big data
Vision domains with cross cutting research investment in clinical research, health economics and public health have been targeted. The Public Health & Clinical Research portfolio consists of two specific components:

- Skill development & Mentoring to improve public health and clinical research practice
- Population-based research to identify magnitude, determinants of visually impairing eye conditions and interventions to reduce visual impairment
The project needs skills for developing and delivering online and Face-to-Face teaching modules and mentoring support for the same
Deliverables:
- Support online training modules for building public health capacity of eye personel. The incumbent will be involved in supporting the development of course content for the courses. Five batches will need to be trained per year
- Support delivery of online training modules
- Mentoring and troubleshooting support for identified trainees
- Support all public health research activities under the project
- Any other tasks assigned by the PI and co-PI/Supervisor.
Qualification:
Essential:
- Master’s in Public health / Diploma in Public Health
- Master’s level degree in Health or Social Development/Sociology
Desirable:
MBBS/BDS with at least 1 years’ experience
Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years of Field experience with Documentation and report writing skills
- Experience in training programs
- Project Management skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience of Working in NCD/Eye care programs
- Excellent computer skills
