Position Overview:
The Communication Officer will be reporting to the Communication Manger. S/he will be responsible for coordinating with state offices and other required sources to obtain relevant information to develop case studies for documentaries, coffee table book, donor reports, photo essays etc. S/he will be coordinating the development of communication activities for the organization and provide appropriate support. S/He will be strategizing and conceptualizing monthly social media content and liaise with internal teams for content development. S/He will be assisting team in conceptualizing the social media campaigns targeted at brand awareness, program visibility/fundraising or organizational for flagship events. S/he will be developing an effective plan to manage the online reputation (ORM) of RtR. S/he will be building partnerships with digital news or platforms with high outreach and visibility aimed at increasing the brand outreach of RtR.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Developing, along with the team, a yearly communication strategy and ensure timely implementation.
- Assisting in brand promotion and management across room to read presence platforms.
- Contributing development of compelling communication materials: audio-visuals (documentaries, PSA, Testimonials), podcast, animated products, illustrations etc. for targeted audience.
- Assisting in creating content for editorials, Op-Eds, media articles etc.
- Creating interesting and relevant content for high visibility collateral such as organizational Brochures, Newsletters, Annual Report, Website, Press Releases etc.
- Works hand-in-hand with designer/ printer to match content, design till execution level.
- Liaising with the Media & PR agencies, printers, designers, and other relevant agencies under the supervision of the Communications Manger.
- Ideating and creating content for strategically high value campaigns and events .
- Coordinate with teams across Room to Read to develop high impact content such as case studies, success stories, photo essays, blogs etc.
- Assisting team to develop and manage yearly calendar of events and ensure adequate online and offline promotions/campaigns during those days.
- Supporting organization in organizing webinars, workshops etc. according to the need of the program departments.
- Maintaining an updated a database of RtR India media coverage .
- Lead the budget related internal exercises for the department such as cash forecast and outlook exercise.
- Any other relevant work assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- MA/PG Diploma in Journalism, Cinema, TV production, or MA – English Literature Degree from reputed university/Institution.
- Minimum 7 -10 years in a communications role. Experience of working in the social development sector will be an advantage.
Skills:
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to produce high quality content required for Above the line and Below the line promotions.
- Possess a robust understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and media optimization tools.
- Good in social media analytics including Tracking, measuring, and reporting the digital performance on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Have an overall aesthetic sense of design to go with relevant content.
- Must have excellent writing and content development skills in English.
- Editing & Proof-Reading abilities.
- Ability to spot good stories and develop photo essays.
- Ability to handle Media Campaigns and demonstrated experience of conceptualizing digital campaigns.
- Basic good visual / designing skills. Knowledge of multimedia such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel draw, Illustrator, In design, Canva, Final-cut- Pro, Adobe premiere, HTML(Basic) is an advantage.
- Ability to work in a team and handle pressure .
