The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), New Delhi is looking for a motivated and hardworking Graphic Designer to create engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media as well as design research papers and relevant cover pages for our research verticals. The chosen candidate will be expected to understand briefs and requirements, visualise and create graphics including designing a variety of research papers, cover pages for papers, layouts, event posters, website graphics, etc.
About CSEP
CSEP is based in New Delhi and registered as a company limited by shares and not for profit, under Sec. 8 of the Companies Act, 1956 (now Sec. 8 of Companies Act, 2013). It conducts independent, policy-oriented research and provides evidence-based recommendations to the challenges facing India and the world, drawing on the expertise of its researchers and distinguished fellows, and interactions with policymakers. Our researchers work across the domains of Economic Growth and Development including Urbanisation; Energy, Natural Resources, Climate Change and Sustainability; and Foreign Policy and Security. All our research and policy recommendations are publicly accessible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing Research Papers: CSEP publishes a variety of research papers which vary in length and style. The designer will be expected to learn the specifications of how each paper is designed and ensure consistency of design, using appropriate colours and layouts. The designer will also be expected to ensure that all papers adhere to the CSEP style sheet and established templates
- Cover Page Design: We expect the designer to possess editorial sensitivity that allows her/him to understand the subject matter of each paper and design cover pages accordingly, in collaboration with the authors.
- Layout and designing of communications materials for events and workshops including backdrops, standees, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, calendars, invitation cards, merchandise, etc.
- Assisting the Design Associate with all projects and supporting the workload
- Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
- Liaising with the printer as needed and ensuring that all designed products are up to the CSEP standard
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree/Bachelor’s degree in any field
- Diploma in Computer Applications/Multimedia
- 2+ years of proven graphic designing experience
- A strong portfolio of Infographic designs, editorial/long form article design or other graphics
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign is essential. Strong graphic design skills including proficiency in all standard design software, including presentation applications such as PowerPoint, among others.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Additional skill sets in basic video editing, photo documentation and template-based software (such as Canva) will be considered a plus.
- Ability to work in a team, stick to timelines and amend designs based on feedback
