About the Organization
The MedFund is an environmental trust fund based in Monaco, specifically dedicated to the financing of marine protected areas in the Mediterranean.
Established in 2015 by France, Tunisia and Monaco with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, this Fund embodies the commitment of several Mediterranean States and international environmental organizations convinced that the future of the Mediterranean and its populations require immediate action.
About the Grant
The MedFund is an environmental trust fund that aims to mobilise public and private actors to promote the development and effectiveness of Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
The Fund provides financial support to the management and co-management structures of Mediterranean MPAs in order to contribute to the sustainable management costs of these protected areas.
In the framework of the Highly Protected Mediterranean Initiative, The MedFund launches the second call for expression of interest specifically dedicated to marine protected areas benefiting from a high degree of protection.
Eligibility
- Must be officially designated MPA or under designation process;
- Must have a management document or management plan;
- Must have some management structure and management team in place.
