Dhwani Rural Information Systems is a Delhi NCR-based tech advisory and consulting firm focused on the social and development sectors. With a robust team of 150+ ICT4D professionals, Dhwani RIS develops IT applications for NGOs, government functionaries, CSRs, international funding organizations, and others to manage their projects and programs in India and abroad. About the Program:

The Tech4Good Fellowship is a 1-year program designed to empower individuals to apply their technical skills for social impact. Through a collaboration with Dhwani RIS and Azim Premji Foundation, this fellowship connects talented individuals with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for a unique opportunity. In this program, the participants will have the chance to make a significant difference in the social sector by creating and implementing innovative technology solutions. As a Tech4Good Fellow, your responsibilities would revolve around navigating the development and deployment of organization level technology solutions for the NGOs working to address the entitlement related challenges of migrants.

Job Description for Tech4Good Fellow:

Responsibilities:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand the needs and challenges of the NGO and the communities it serves. Identify opportunities where technology can make a positive impact and contribute to social good.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with the NGO and stakeholders to design innovative technology solutions on Frappe framework, that address the identified challenges.
  • Product Development: Take ownership of the technology solution development process. Work closely with the technology team of Dhwani to develop the technology product.
  • Product implementation: Work with the NGO’s team to ensure smooth implementation and integration of the solution.
  • Project Management: Manage the technology projects throughout their lifecycle, including defining project scope, creating project plans, setting milestones, and monitoring progress.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, track project timelines, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • User Training and Support: Provide training and support to the NGO staff and end-users to ensure they can effectively utilize and maximize the benefits of the implemented technology solutions.
  • Offer technical assistance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the technology solutions, including technical specifications, user manuals, and project documentation. Ensure proper version control and knowledge transfer to enable sustainability and future enhancements.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate progress, achievements, challenges, and recommendations to the NGO’s management and stakeholders regularly. Prepare reports and presentations to showcase the impact of the technology solutions and share key learnings.
  • Ethical Considerations: Pay attention to ethical considerations when designing and implementing technology solutions, ensuring privacy, data protection, inclusivity, and accessibility

While this provides a comprehensive overview of the responsibilities of a fellow, specific tasks and focus areas may vary depending on the NGO and project requirements. There may also be some travel involved to the beneficiary location on need basis.

Keys Qualifications:

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (economics, statistics, computer science, social development)
  • 3 months – 2 years of experience in a work environment (start-up, corporate). Work experience in NGOs, CSRs, social impact, consulting organizations would be most ideal.
  • Dhwani RIS will ensure Frappe certification for the fellows and cover the associated costs. 

Essential skills and competencies:

  • Driven by a passion for making a meaningful impact in the social sector
  • Familiarity with basic technology terms such as UI, frontend, backend, DBMS, dashboards, and open source
  • Highly intuitive and quick to grasp concepts, with the ability to ask insightful questions
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Effective communicator skilled at translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders,
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Willingness to travel to the beneficiary location, in case required
  • Proficiency in basic data analysis and management tools like Excel/Power BI and GDS would be desirable 

Job Location:

  • The fellow will be coordinate and frequent travel in NGO’s
  • The fellows will be responsible for their own boarding and lodging expenses
