Overview of the Role

One of BIU’s mandates is to conduct cross-cutting academic research in policy relevant topics such as gender, financial inclusion, climate, health, education, etc. Through research in these fields, the BIU aims to answer pressing questions which may be relevant not only for the academicians and scholars but also to policy making in the country.

The Research Intern will report to Sheral Shah (Senior Research Associate) and work closely with the lead of NITI – BIU, Dr. Shagata Mukherjee. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in development economics and behavioural science looking to develop top-level research and data skills. This is also a great learning opportunity for current or prospective PhD candidates. The successful candidate will work on academic projects across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth literature reviews and other secondary research.
  • Assist in data cleaning and management.
  • Assist in conducting empirical analysis using STATA.
  • Assist in drafting reports, creating presentations and other products.
  • Provide assistance on other relevant tasks as and when required.

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, development economics, behavioural economics or any other related field.
  • Prior experience with literature reviews and empirical research.
  • Proficient in managing data and conducting basic statistical analysis on STATA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven and motivated.

Duration

3 months with the possibility of extension, starting ASAP.

Location

The intern can work remotely or out of the BIU office in Delhi. Applicants should be authorised to work in India.

Compensation

Rs. 10,000 per month
