Dream a Dream is an Indian non-profit organisation working to transform the experience of education for the 260+ million children that go to school in India. Our aim is to change the purpose of education towards the idea of Thriving for every child. Since 1999, Dream a Dream has mainstreamed life skills as a critical approach to help children overcome adversity and learn to thrive. Today, the organisation is transforming the Indian education ecosystem through its own programmes, through curriculum and pedagogical innovations and through the development of holistic assessment frameworks while also shifting the narratives around the purpose of education. Position summary
Dream a Dream is working with different state governments to embed Life skills in their respective education systems. The associate will be an integral part of the development team and will be responsible for many programme related activities within Dream a Dream.
The consultant will work closely with the Telangana State lead to develop and execute key elements of Dream a Dream’s strategy in its partnership with the Government of Telangana. The role will be initially on a contract for six months, and can be later converted into a full-time position based on the requirement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Facilitation Skills – Ability to engage with people and facilitate based on an understanding of their mindsets.
- Execute aspects of Dream a Dream’s strategy as it pertains to its partnership with the Government of Telangana.
- Work with the team to organize and support trainings (online/offline) at various levels
- Understand impact assessment of the workshops and improve the quality of training
- Conduct regular field visits. Interact with students, teachers and other stakeholders to assess and understand the execution of various curriculums.
- Enhance the projects social media presence by publishing high quality content on online platforms
- Provide support to the internal teams in research and M&E work as well as to build an ecosystem premised on life skills approach.
What are we looking for?
- Having a good understanding of Life skills and prior experience working on Life skills/ Social emotional learning would be an added benefit.
- Field level understanding and exposure of government interaction along with managing Government projects.
- Commitment towards bringing in a shift in mindset and passionate about solving complex challenges in the Education system with persistence.
- Experienced facilitator who has worked with adults and students with an ability to connect with participants and bring about a deep transformation.
- Flexible to travel . There will be opportunities to travel and facilitate according to the need of the program and place – Locally, Interstate, Nationally and Internationally
- Strong spoken and written communication and articulation skills. Strong desire for excellence and consistent drive to improve and learn.
- Ability to innovate, adapt and act in difficult circumstances.
- Social media management and thorough handling.
- Positive attitude and being open to receiving and giving feedback.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Education sector, preferably Socio-Emotional Learning and Life Skills
- MS Office and Social Media skills
- Prior experience of filed work in government schools is preferable.
- Fluent in Telugu and English a must. Fluency in Hindi would be an additional advantage.
