**Job Summary:**
The Assistant Finance Officer will be a key member of the Admin & Finance team at IWMI’s New Delhi office. Reporting to the Administrative and Finance Manager – India, this role will provide essential financial support to research scientists and partners. Responsibilities include processing financial transactions, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with IWMI’s policies and regulatory standards.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
* Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and timely.
* Assist in payroll processing and ensure proper documentation.
* Track expenses, Statements of Expenses (SOE), and invoices, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
* Support the preparation of budget forecasts and financial summaries.
* Maintain accurate financial records (invoices, receipts, payment logs) through scanning and filing.
* Update and manage financial databases and accounting systems (IWMI’s ERP).
* Ensure adherence to organizational financial policies and regulatory standards.
* Assist with internal and external audits.
* Prepare financial reports and statements for management and stakeholders.
* Provide financial procedure and compliance guidance to research staff and partners.
* Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to resolve financial queries.
* Assist the Administrative and Finance Manager with daily tasks and special projects.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
**Requirements:**
**Educational Qualifications & Experience:**
* Essential: University degree in Accounting, Business, Financial Management, or a closely related discipline.
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
* Essential: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and strong computer skills for data analysis, reporting, and tracking.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of ERPs, preferably SAP.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to interpret terms and conditions in donor agreements.
* Strong teamwork and interdepartmental coordination skills.
* Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
