Overview of the role: The Assistant Manager Development and Donor Relations is a key role in helping Akanksha to grow the scale and impact of our work. S/he holds the responsibility for delivering our fundraising strategies and will lead and coordinate Akanksha’s fundraising activities at multi city level. S/he will be responsible for garnering necessary financial support to sustain the organization’s ongoing activities as well as future growth plans. The incumbent will be an embodiment of Akanksha’s core values and have a wholehearted belief in its mission. The incumbent will work closely with the Director – Development & Donor Relations & other team members, Finance team and other stakeholders in Program team. The role of the incumbent is to ensure that challenging fundraising targets are met, that our contractual obligations with donors are adhered to with strong stewardship of these strategic relations, and that new donors are brought on board. The person will work throughout the organization to mobilize and engage donors both CSR and Retail (Individuals) and Partnerships

What your role will entail:

Corporate Giving, Foundations and Agency Grants

  • Develop corporate giving proposals and identify list of potential donors basis research and reach out.
  • Inspiring new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters.
  • Develop and deepen existing donor relationships, support donor stewardship.
  • Maintain relationships with existing donors and respond to their requests regularly and keep updating them about the work of the organization.
  • Coordinate donor recognition, tax donation receipting and regular reporting to donors as per the agreed frequency , liasoning with the Finance team for Financial utilization of the donor grants.
  • Increasing funds by researching and targeting foundations and agencies across the world whose criteria match our aims and activities.
  • Developing and coordinating web-based fundraising, online partnerships , employee giving partnerships and employee engagement activities.
  • Working on creating the right kinds of internal systems and processes for donor management and reporting in the organization.
  • Finding the right platforms to find partnerships from corporates – like Benevity / Give etc and nurturing those relationships.

Individual Giving, Fundraising Events

●  Design, implement and support innovative fundraising events and campaigns.

● End to end manage fundraising events like Marathons , School Fundraisers . This involves  liasoning with internal and external stakeholders, planning, execution and donor stewardship.

● Cultivate relationships with individuals of various giving capacities, and identify meaningful ways to engage them in Akanksha’s work.

Budgeting, Allocation & Tracking

● Work closely in budgeting exercises of CSR donor grants, track spends with coordination with Finance

● Support the head of fundraising with maintaining trackers and dashboard for Budgets and achievement.

● Work with departments like Finance, Program and Monitoring and evaluation to gather data and track
the same to present the nos and qualitative data in a meaningful manner.

Administration

● Regularly monitor donor websites and identify and inform donor opportunities matching the work of
the organization.

● Ensure that donor reports meet requirements and contracts, and that they are of a high standard and
submitted on time.

● Support all donor requirements like Audits and impact assessment related work

Fundraising Partners

• Liase with Akanksha’s existing partner fundraising groups and further expand the network to other countries.

• Motivating and facilitating supporters to maximize the funds they raise as crowdfunding campaign

What you need for this Position

Required Qualifications and Must-have skills:

● Bachelor’s degree required, major in finance, business studies, management, marketing, public  relations preferred

● Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

● Excellent understanding and hands on experience for MS office – Advanced Excel , PowerPoint and other visual data presentation tools.

Experience:

Minimum 3-4 years in fundraising / Operations Management / Relationships Management for non-profits.

  • Knowledge of fundraising Operations and donor stewardship
  • Knowledge of programme design, monitoring, evaluation and reporting is good to have.
  • Understanding on project management skills with proven experience of and ability to plan and implement day to day operations
  • Highly motivated, willingness to learn and attention to details
  • Creative, flexible character and a generator of new ideas. Ability to write donor reports, updates and details for newsletters for donors.
  • Willingness to be self-servicing, with a proven ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
