In this context, SBI Foundation is hiring an Asst. Manager, Program – Environment. The individual in this position will focus on conceptualising new initiatives and evaluating proposals received for contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The person will play a key role in SBI Foundation’s contribution to the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be a part of the Environment Vertical (CONSERW) of the Foundation and will report to Asst. Vice President & Program Head. As part of the team, the person in this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing support in developing new programs, implementing and evaluating assigned programs, etc.; monitoring and analysing program development and implementation; identifying problems and issues to be addressed and initiating corrective actions; liaising with relevant parties; ensuring follow-up action
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on programs undertaken by SBI Foundation assigned to the incumbent, including reporting to partners/funders
  • Providing support in organising and preparing written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
  • Coordinating with the Marketing & Communications team at SBI Foundation for outreach and communication activities to raise awareness about, and widely disseminate, outputs and findings resulting from the assigned programs
  • Supporting the AVP & Program Head in organising seminars/ roundtables/ workshops for national experts addressing sustainable development issues

The incumbent will also be involved in providing support for planning, budgeting, writing research papers on varied subjects, review of schedule timelines, onboarding, resource management for the programs, SPOC for issue management, onsite-offsite coordination and communicating innovative ideas/changes for program management/development activities.

Key Responsibility Areas will also include:

Budget Achievement

  • Meeting budget targets throughout the year by conceptualising innovative programs in the field of Environment
  • Undertaking programs as per the budget allocated to the position/team
  • Programme Management and Delivery
  • Participate with NGOs/Implementation agencies closely in program delivery
  • Ensure that programs meet objectives, timelines are adhered to and beneficiary experience is of high quality
  • Effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including NGOs, partner teams, beneficiaries, etc.
  • Establish a clear understanding of program expectations including on timelines, quality check measures, etc.
  • Manage expectations, align and push back as program requirements demand (do this on multiple programs at a time)

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor programs regularly by conducting site visits to ensure timely achievement/delivery of targets/results
  • Evaluate the data provided/gathered from NGOs/onsite to track the progress of the program.
  • Estimate the probability of success/failure and take necessary steps to meet the desired outputs
  • Undertake/initiate impact assessment with help of an external agency to judge the success of the programs and devise a future course of action
  • Promotion and Branding
  • To conceptualise promotional material like pictures/posters/quotes etc. from the programs and coordinate with the Asst. Manager – Communications to ensure programs get the required visibility and publicity
  • To facilitate coordination between the communications teams from the NGOs and SBIF’s communications team to ensure the project gets timely visibility on the social media handles of SBI Foundation

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and writing skills
  • Experienced in developing concept notes and writing proposals
  • Proficient in formal communication, tailors language, tone, style and format to match audience
  • Computer literate in standard software applications (such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Go-getter and self-starter with sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Creative problem solver with a rigorous approach and an aptitude for quantitative analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in public policy, social sciences, or related areas with a specialisation in the fields of environmental policy, sustainable development, resource management, ecology & conservation, biodiversity and climate change, renewable energy, etc.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in managing projects in the field of wildlife and biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable resource management etc.

Although the individual will work in a small team, it is essential that the chosen candidate can work in an independent manner to complete the given tasks in a time-bound manner.
