Job Title: Assistant Manager – Financial planning and analysis

Level of Contact with Children: 3 (None or rare contact with children) The position holder shall be responsible to adhere & work within the ambit of Plan India’s Child Protection & Gender Equality Policies.
SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL JOB
Under the supervision of Sr. Manager – Finance, the position is responsible for the execution and implementation of Finance budgeting and reporting processes in alignment with the organisation planincluding adoption and improvement of policies and processes aroundeffective grant reporting/management, financial budgeting &planning, management reporting and ensuring timely production of the quality reports that enable the Teams/Management to make timely decisions while ensuring compliance to established donor, government and organisational regulations.The position is also responsible for supporting cash flow management process, supporting budgeting process for the development of new grant proposals, driving process improvement initiatives and new finance/accounting initiatives including capacity building of the other finance team members for meeting the reporting and budgetary requirements of grants/donors.
KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL REPORTING&ANALYSIS
- To provide detailed reports and financial dashboard to Sr. Manager Financeincluding Plan India’s Budget vs actual spends, Grant and sponsorship detailed MIS, cost ratios etc. to support decision making by the leadership on productivity metrics and cost efficiencies to maintain financial standards and ratios.
- Manage effective adoption of the cost recovery policy and recharge mechanism to ensure full recovery of operating cost from relevant grants and sponsorship funds, support in maintaining a monthly tracker by grants.
- Conduct detailed analysis and review of budget versus actual at project level and drive effective budget management through Grant Finance and Programme teams
- To ensure allGlobal and Corporate reporting requirements are met in a timely manner through comprehensive and high-quality documentation
- Prepare monthly MIS and ad-hoc reports in consultation with Sr Finance Manager and/or Director Finance & Operations to drive effective budget management, drive cost saving initiatives and focused support and actions by Plan India Management team.
- Ensure detailed Income analysis and share recommendations to manage funds judicially
- Coordinate and consolidate cash flow position and future cash requirements on monthly basis.
- Support the Sr. Manager Finance in the budgeting process for development of new proposals
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT OF GRANTS
- Working closely with the Grant and regional finance team members on timely review and effective management of budgets/actuals, grant timelines, amendments etc.
- Set-up and drive process for timely and adequate charging of costs (Management, HR & Other partial cost recoveries) from agreed grant budgets.
- Monthly review and driving timely financial closure of closing/closed grants in tandem with other finance teams, program and resource mobilization team
- Prepare and share monthly Grant MIS with internal stakeholders
BUDGET MANAGMENT
- Ensure that all planning and budgeting procedures are managed well and reported to the management as per timelines.
- Ensure on timely collation/preparation of Income and expense budget for the Plan India and drive adherence to this budget.
- Manage Quarterly Forecasting process by reviewing detailed project budgets in line with actual spent and cost planned for future months.
- Manage all Global and corporate requirement’s with regards to the budgeting and forecasting process
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT & NEW INTIATIVES
- Support continuous improvement, standardisation and automation in the finance and accounting processes like reporting automation, self service dashboards, enhanced usage of features available in ERP/other tools used, automating manual processes etc.
- Supportexecution and tracking of organization wide and Global new finance/accounting related initiatives/tools/processes like new ERP roll-out, new P2P software, Qandle reimbursement module, OH recovery policy etc.
CAPACITY BUILDING
- To ensure capacity building of the finance teams for meeting day to day reporting requirements, budgetmanagement, grant financial management, usage of SAP/SAP BI, training on new tools etc.

- Ability to sustain good interpersonal and professional relationships with internal colleagues and other finance team members
- Deep understanding of Plan India’s strategy and how efforts contribute to the greater good
- Consistently works within internal process and procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant university degree
- Minimum 8 years of working experience of large-scale development sector organisation with both
- Foreign and Non-Foreign Currency funding’s
- Strong understanding of NGOs statutory norms, accounting, budgeting and reporting processes
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and working knowledge of Hindi.
- Excellent computer and MS Office skills. Candidate with advanced excel skill (like VBA) and working knowledge of SAP ERP and analytics tools (like power BI, Tableau) will be given preference.
- Strong critical thinking, conceptual and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment
