As Assistant programme Officer, you are the drive behind the organisation’s Child Friendly Community programme, Bal Mitra Mandal (BMM) that aims to build child-friendly urban slum communities – where every child is safe, free and educated.
Key Responsibilities
Programme
- Develop monthly action plans for your respective communities in consultation with the Community Social Worker and your Supervisor.
- Create and support formation and functioning of community groups including Bal Shakti
- Mandal, Yuva Shakti Mandal and Mahila Shakti Mandal in your respective communities
- Create community level child friendly committee
- Organize and coordinate mass awareness activities in community
- Support community groups in developing their capacity to engage with local administrator.
- Maintain relationship will all families in Bal Mitra Mandal communities
- Develop and maintain relationships with slum community administration related to Bal Mitra Mandal communities, non-government organisations as well as with the media in your area
- Prepare a monthly report in a prescribed format and in accordance with the action plan
- Documentation and reporting including videography and photography in digitized form
- Maintain a file of your achievements, with relevant details, in your respective communities
Administrative
- Maintain a daily diary to note all daily activities. You will send copy of this diary at the end of each month to your supervisor
- Prepare detail activity plans and provide cost to each item
- Collect and collate all bills after an activity is over and hand them to your Supervisor
- Participate in all activities as instructed by the central office

KRA’s for this role:
- Provide program and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved program plans
- Accountable for identifying dropouts and not in school children and enrolling them in school
- Conducting door to door household surveys
- Timely updating daily, weekly and monthly reports, activity reports, case studies and required formats
- Update and collate documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies and practices to ensure the delivery of program complies with agreed program management methodology
- Liasoning with stakeholders and local authorities
- Provide a range of administrative services, including coordinating meetings, activities and preparing papers, to support project management delivery Key challenges
- Delivering multiple project support activities in line with agreed standards and objectives, given tight deadlines and competing demands and priorities
Requirements
Education, Experience and Exposure
- Graduate in Social Work/Sociology/Psychology or any relevant stream
- Good command on Hindi and English will be an added advantage
- Minimum 1 year of experience of working in the field of Children or Community Development Prior experience of at least one year (either through Full-Time job or Field Work Experience) of working with stakeholders at School and Community Level for improving the learning environment of children
- Required minimum two years of commitment
- Proficient in MS office (MS word, excel and PPT), report writing, drafting emails, and good command over telephonic correspondences.
- Good command on Hindi and English
