 ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY – AVP, COMMUNICATIONS (SYSTEM ADOPTION)

For the last ten years, Medha has delivered a unique experiential learning program to young people in the ‘Hindi-belt.’  

Based on the Four Cs of 21st-century skills – communications, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking – the program aims to prepare young people to start and excel in diverse career paths of their choice. 

Constantly upgraded and enhanced, the program has evolved significantly over the last decade, along with changing student and market demands. As we look to the future of learning and work, we are doubling down on the program’s transformative impact on young people’s lives.

Medha has a vision of an India with equal career opportunities for youth, irrespective of gender, class, or caste. We believe the most effective way to get 150 million young people into rewarding careers is by collaborating with the government education system. From day one, we chose to exclusively work at existing vocational, technical, and higher education institutions and integrate our programming and approach into the system. 

Ten years later, this scale path has enabled us to impact over 85,000 students across more than 540 educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana. As we expand our System Adoption work to reach 1 million students in the next five years, we are looking for an AVP, Communication for the System Adoption team, to help amplify our voice by showing our impact on the public education system and recognizing system change-makers, writing blogs, white paper, creating playbooks for the evidence-based successful model for scale, strategizing and implementing dissemination for reaching out to right segment for scale.

You will work with a team of professionals equally driven by Medha’s mission and vision.

What you will do: 

This position requires you to excel in several different domains. Some of the main areas of work include: 

Develop a communication strategy for system adoption projects:

  • Work closely with project teams to devise a communication strategy for the project.
  • Work in coordination with state information & broadcasting department.
  • Coordinate with the project team and government officials to collect stories from the ground.
  • Write blogs, newspaper articles, social media posts to improve project’s visibility in the skilling ecosystem.
  • Conceptualize and execute events that recognize the changemakers within the government system.

Coordinate with internal Team:

  • Coordinate with Medha’s MarCom team for maintaining Medha’s brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Data and Impact team for data insights, reports, and other collaterals for events, blogs, and articles.
  • Write and direct the production of relevant materials – proposals, briefings, reports, and other communications material for the System Adoption team.

Event Management: 

  • Plan event from start to finish as per broad objectives, target audiences, and expected outcomes.
  • Prepare budget and ensure adherence.
  • Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders for inviting speakers, audience, and creating collaterals for the event.   
  • Lead event promotional activities.
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare a report for internal and external purposes.

What your day might look like: 

While no two days are the same, some may look like this: 

  • Attend a meeting with the project planning team to incorporate project communication strategy.
  • Create social media blogs or write an article/press release for the projects.
  • Assist project teams with bi-annual and annual reports. 
  • Visit government departments and fields to collect stories, testimonials, videos, etc.
  • Meet local newspapers and media houses for building and nurturing relationships.
  • Meet Director- Information Department to brief them about an upcoming state-level event and the support you need from them.
  • Meet vendors & suppliers for the events. 

Things we are looking for: 

Someone who identifies with our mission and vision and has the knack for pulling off large-scale events, media relationship management, and has a passion for impact writing! 

The ideal candidate has the following capabilities:

  • Strong communication & negotiation skills and ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Strong writing and social media management skills
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and functions to ensurethat all the relevant information is available at all times.
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute significant online/offline events
  • Excellent organizational skills
