About SEWA Bharat:
Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.
Bihar Mahila Sewa Bachat Evam Swavlambi Sahkari Samiti Ltd. – Overview
Bihar Credit Cooperative (BCC) is a State level Credit Cooperative that was started in 2013 with the objective of providing better credit and savings to women. It started in 2013 with 150 shareholders and in 2017 reached a shareholding of 18,000. The current shareholding is 12000 women with regular active members around 6000-7000. When the Self-Help Group Initiative was launched to provide the poor with access to formal financial services, it was expected that cooperatives would step in to provide these services. The SHGs with their readily available support structure, their numbers, and reach were ideally placed to be served through credit cooperatives to have their individual and group financial needs met.
Tasks & Deliverables:
Operations:
- Coordination of Program operations
- Spearheading budget utilization & management support
- Supporting the organization structure/communication structure strengthening
- Responsible for knowledge transfer within the team and raising needs of training and capacity building requirements.
- Streamline operations processes and develop new ones where required
- Manage team output, performance, and build capacity for better work
Business Development:
- Assisting in building strategies for the business
- Providing business planning & monitoring support
- Supporting business expansion- Market analysis, competitor analysis, product analysis and sharing the findings with core team
Others:
- Coordinating with Donor agencies for program Updates
- Creating reports for the program
- Ensuring coordination and information flow between BCC and SEWA Bharat
- Coordination with mentor wherever required for daily monitoring
- Responsible for capacity building of board members and members of the cooperative
Compliance:
- Supporting the core team with ensuring compliances and developing processes within the organisation regarding the same (Accounting, Statutory compliances, coordination support for managing department related matters)
- Analysing audit reports and presenting in finance review meetings under the guidance of Finance Lead
Compensation and Location
Munger | INR 45k to 50k per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications accounting
Qualification Criteria & Skill Sets
- Master’s degree in accounting/finance or related (essential) & 2 year of work experience
- Bachelor degree with four years of experience in Microfinance sector
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Skills
- Ability to implement programs and manage stakeholder relationships
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to independently lead a team
- Excellent report writing, communication
- English writing proficiency
