## Associate – Budget Analyst

**About the Operations Team**

 

The Operations team is essential to the smooth functioning of WRI India. We work with numerous stakeholders, including donors, partners, government agencies, statutory bodies, trustees, vendors, and consultants, to ensure seamless operational support. Our team plays a critical role in supporting program teams by:

 

* Planning and controlling costs

* Maximizing efficiency

* Allocating resources effectively

 

This allows program teams to focus on developing high-quality research, implementing impactful initiatives, and delivering valuable outcomes for communities.

 

**About the Role**

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Associate – Budget Analyst to support our operational and administrative activities. This role is crucial in managing complex and multi-faceted grants, financial reporting, tracking expenditures, monitoring contracts and sub-agreements, event management, and other administrative tasks.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

**Financial Management (60%):**

 

* Maintain project budgets using WRI’s budgeting and forecasting software (TM1)

* Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure accurate budget forecasting and minimize variance from planned targets

* Work closely with the accounting team, payments team, HR, and program teams

* Support project reporting processes, including preparing semi-annual, annual, and mid-cycle financial reports

* Coordinate with program teams to manage timesheets and expense reporting

* Provide support for ad hoc financial expenditures for outreach, communication/engagement, and delivery efforts

* Ensure team compliance with the terms and conditions of complex grant and contract agreements

 

**Contracts and Vendor Management (10%):**

 

* Process documentation for agreements, contracts, sub-grants, work authorizations, and purchase orders

* Monitor performance against contract requirements

* Collaborate with partners to help them understand and meet sub-grant and contract requirements

* Maintain supporting reports throughout the duration of contracts and sub-grants

* Provide guidance to partner organizations and consultants to ensure their compliance with funder policies

 

**Conference, Event & Travel Support (10%):**

 

* Coordinate logistics for domestic and international workshops, including venue and catering arrangements

* Provide travel and visa support to the team

* Support teams with financial management for conference and event logistics

 

**Administration (20%):**

 

* Schedule meetings for the team and assist with annual planning processes

* Maintain new hire staffing information with operations

* Manage multiple program, department, and organizational trackers

 

**Qualifications & Requirements:**

 

* Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting)

* 2-4 years of full-time work experience in financial management, budgeting, contracts administration, or nonprofit operations

* Strong understanding of grant compliance and experience in monitoring sub-grant and contract relationships

* Proven ability to manage complex financial processes and maintain accurate records

* Excellent organizational skills with a focus on quality, timelines, and organizational systems

* Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively

* High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web-based communication tools (Skype, Zoom)

* Familiarity with CRM databases (Salesforce)

* Budgeting experience with Excel or other budgeting software is highly desirable

 

**Compensation and Benefits:**

 

* **Salary:** 800,000-900,000 INR CTC per annum (commensurate with experience and skills)
