**Job Summary:**

 

As a Design Researcher with UI/UX skills, you will champion the needs of our product users and beneficiaries.  Through primary research, you will uncover user needs, behaviors, and motivations, collaborating with cross-functional teams (product & program management, research, and engineering) to develop new products and prototypes.  You will also work closely with external partners such as government agencies, nonprofits, and corporations.  Human-centered design is paramount, guiding the creation of effective and intuitive solutions for diverse user groups across various geographies and cultural backgrounds.

 

**Roles and Responsibilities:**

 

* Conduct user research (domain research, field research, surveys, ethnographic studies, expert interviews).

* Collaborate with engineers, product/project managers, and researchers to address challenges and prioritize user experience.

* Assist in developing and testing prototypes and proof-of-concept trials.

* Communicate research findings through written reports and presentations to diverse audiences.

* Identify and implement new research methods, tools, and techniques to improve products and solutions.

 

**Requirements:**

 

* A formal design degree from an accredited institution, specializing in Human-Centered Design (HCD).

* 1-4 years of in-office experience in human-centered design, preferably as a service designer.

* Proven design research experience with diverse user groups, including experience with rural, underprivileged, or vulnerable populations (minimum 2 relevant projects).

* Advanced proficiency in Figma (minimum 2 delivered projects).

* Willingness to travel extensively to rural settings.

* Fluency in Hindi; additional Indian languages are a plus.

* Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods (lab-based usability studies, field research, usability inspections, user profiles/personas, participatory design, survey research, experiment design, statistical analysis).

* Understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various research methods and their application throughout product development phases.

* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
