## Job Description – Associate Director, Industry Vertical

**Experience Required:** 15+ years of experience
**Position Summary:**
The Associate Director – Industry Vertical will lead FAST’s engagement with the Indian industry. This role is crucial in building relationships with industry leaders, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation in the science and technology landscape.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* **Industry Partnerships:** Build and nurture relationships with Industry CEOs, Industry Bodies (FICCI/CII etc.), and select bureaucrats. Inspire them with FAST’s vision for S&T in India, understand their needs and perspectives, and encourage their collaboration with FAST’s initiatives.
* **Research & Strategy:** Provide thought leadership by developing a strategic view on various industry sectors in India. Identify and create specific areas of intervention, implement them, and influence the ecosystem by promoting industry best practices and case studies.
* **Sectoral Advisory Councils:** Create a team of top experts from industry and academia for each national priority sector. These councils will guide FAST in developing roadmaps to build India’s capability, and FAST will then work with industry institutions and the government to facilitate implementation.
* **Drive Salience:** Create awareness of the need for increased industry R&D and product innovation efforts. This includes showcasing industry exemplars, global benchmarks, insightful case studies, editorials, and social media content.
* **Team Building:** Build a small, high-performing team for the Industry vertical.
**Ideal Candidate Profile:**
* Passionate and dynamic leader with a proven track record of success in driving change at a national level.
* Strong vision and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable strategies.
* Proven leadership and drive, with experience in building a vertical from scratch, including hiring, motivating, forging partnerships, and working through influence.
* Comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting strategies to be effective in a multi-stakeholder ecosystem.
* B Tech/ M Tech with an MBA and 15+ years of experience.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Strong leadership presence, capable of interacting effectively with top industry leaders, senior academics, and government officials.
