Reports To: Vice President, ORF Mumbai
Expertise: Urban economics, Urban planning, infrastructure and mobility; inclusive and sustainable development; impact of climate change on urbanisation, green transitions
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Conduct in-depth research and publish on:Contemporary urbanisation trends from the financial, social, environmental, economic, technological and governance standpoints
- ULBs their governance and finances, urban development policy, related legal and regulatory frameworks, SDGs, urban distess and contestations, and urban infrastructure and mobility
- The impact of urbanisation on city and metropolitan environment – extreme weather events, impact on coastal ecology, including mangroves and estuarine ecosystems
- City-level measures to reduce carbon footprint, promote circular economy, open and green spaces, urban farming, urban forestry
- Lead and manage research work, projects and dialogues, including planning, budgeting, and coordination responsibilities
- Build a network of sector stakeholders, engage with partners and stakeholders in these areas to support ORF convenings and outreach.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Urban Affairs
- Post-graduate or equivalent degree in Economics, Urban Planning or a similar field
- 5-12 years of work experience
- Good publication record, spanning analytical articles, research outputs, and project reports
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong relationship skills and team ethic
