**Job Title:** Associate Livelihood Officer

**Job Summary:**
The Associate Livelihood Officer will play a crucial role in operationalizing UNHCR’s strategy for livelihoods and economic inclusion of refugees in India, aligning efforts with the Global Compact on Refugees. This involves advocating for refugees’ rights to work, building partnerships with various stakeholders (private sector, NGOs, government agencies), and enhancing existing livelihoods programs using evidence-based, market-driven approaches. The role also includes oversight of UNHCR’s cash-based intervention (CBI) program.
**Responsibilities:**
* Maintain close collaboration with partners (government ministries, private sector, development actors) to promote refugee economic inclusion. This includes advocating for access to services like business development, microfinance, and training.
* Collaborate with UNHCR’s Protection Unit to assess legal frameworks related to work rights and implement advocacy initiatives to improve economic inclusion for refugees.
* Utilize UNHCR databases to facilitate information sharing and coordination among stakeholders, including supporting socioeconomic surveys to inform program targeting and monitoring.
* Conduct assessments (impact assessments, surveys) to identify investment and funding opportunities that enhance refugee economic inclusion.
* Strengthen, guide, and monitor UNHCR’s livelihoods interventions (if applicable), ensuring they are market-based and strategically aligned with UNHCR’s comparative advantage.
* Perform other related duties as required.
**Qualifications:**
* **Experience:** 3 years of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree; 2 years with a graduate degree; or 1 year with a doctorate degree.
* **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Socio-Economics Development, Economics/International Economics, Rural Development, Financial Management, or a related field.
* **Essential Technical Competencies:** Proven experience in livelihoods programming sub-sectors (financial inclusion, employment, entrepreneurship, private sector development, etc.). Experience facilitating economic inclusion for vulnerable groups, ideally in diverse field contexts. Experience in developing partnerships with the private sector, NGOs, UN organizations, and government authorities.
* **Desirable Qualifications:** Knowledge of recent developments in the livelihoods sector, including UN processes related to SDGs and the Global Compact on Refugees.
* **Language Proficiency:** Excellent written and oral English communication skills. Hindi language skills are desirable.
