Position Overview:

The Associate Manager, Accounting position is a full-time role located in Delhi and is part of the Global Office Finance and Legal Department. The position is responsible for the overall accounting of Room to Read Global Services Pvt. Ltd and GO Africa and, Support and Monitoring of Africa Country Offices activities as well as Customs Projects based outside Country Offices. This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Finance and Accounting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Accounting, Compliance and Audit of Room to Read Global Services Pvt. Ltd.  and GO Africa

  • Ensure timely completion of all accounting & finance activities, such as regular accounting entries, closing the monthly & yearly accounts within deadline, monthly cash forecast and support in annual budgeting, etc.
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and organizational resources appropriately safe guarded.
  • Ensure internal processes are adhered to before releasing of payments
  • Coordinate external/statutory audits
  • Ensure compliances with legal requirements
  • Processing payroll and compliance with related legal requirements
  • Support Peoples Operations team in the areas of retirement fund, staff related insurance and other payroll related benefits

2. Country Support and Monitoring

  • Run various monthly review reports in the financial system and conduct review of month-end checklist/schedules. Analyze, compile and report for review.
  • Preparing Monthly budget vs actual results based on the inputs received from Country Offices.
  • Review of Monthly Cash Forecast as per defined templates and policies and prepare a summary for review.
  • Review of Monthly Spending Analysis templates of Country offices.
  • Oversight of Country Office Time Management Process Compliances.
  • Extend support during External audit for Country Offices, as and when required.
  • Provide support to Country Offices during Annual Planning and Budget preparation and forecasts.
  • Travel to Country Offices, as required to support in capacity building and monitoring.
  • Review and analysis of quarterly book inventory reports from the Country Offices (COs)
  • Manage the SharePoint folder of the Field Finance & Accounting Sub-team related to COs

3.Support for Global Audit and Year end Activities

  • Provide support for the Year-end close and Global Audit requirements related to country office.
  • Review Country Offices year end closing templates and prepare analysis as per Audit requirements.
  • Ensure accounting processes warrant data integrity of all transactions within Intacct with adequate backups.

4.Support to Customs Projects

  • Provide support to the Project Managers by reviewing of monthly financial reports of partners related to Customs Projects outside Country Offices
  • Capacity building of Partners
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Associate Director, Finance & Accounting, Vice-President Field Finance and Accounting and Vice-President, Controller.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A Master’s degree or Master’s in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance) and general ledger database knowledge
  • Minimum 4-5 years relevant work experience
  • Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Prior experience designing financial reporting and building complex financial models using Excel or EPM tools
  • Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Comfortable communicating using email and Skype or internet-based systems
  • Expert skill levels in MS Office – Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Results and detail oriented, accurate, and organized
  • Proven track record of achieving results
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative
  • Legally eligible to work in India & have a valid passport.
  • Ability and desire to travel frequently internationally

Preferred:

  • Experience with organizational behavioral change for process improvement and efficiency building
  • Any work Experience related to Financial Planning and Analysis work.
  • CA Inter or Cost Accountant or any other similar professional certifications.
  • Experience using budgeting software –e.g., Intacct, Adaptive or any ERP system.
