**Job Overview:**

 

The Associate, Quality Reading Material will be based in New Delhi and report to the National Program Coordinator. This editorial role focuses on local language children’s literature and involves collaboration with authors, illustrators, publishers, printers, and officials.  Some travel may be required.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* Organize and facilitate workshops for writers and illustrators.

* Edit and finalize manuscripts, including translation into English.

* Coordinate with translators, writers, illustrators, designers, and other stakeholders in book production.

* Understand and advise on technical aspects of book printing and publishing, including bidding and printing processes (requisition, assessment, proofreading, quality checks, payment approvals).

* Develop understanding of Room to Read’s Literacy program design.

* Define criteria for engaging and culturally appropriate reading materials for primary school grades.

* Contribute to gap analyses to identify needs in reading materials.

* Coordinate material distribution with the Operations team.

* Manage inventory with the POD and Admin teams.

* Complete regular reports (MIUs, Quarterly Reports, Forecasts, etc.).

* Communicate regularly with internal teams (Operations, Administration, Finance, HR) and external stakeholders.

* Contribute to report preparation, budget reviews, and documentation.

* Facilitate the development of Grade 1 and 2 instructional materials, including illustration, design, layout, and printing.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

**Qualifications:**

 

* Bachelor’s degree in literature, language, education, social sciences, or equivalent.  A Master’s degree is preferred.

* Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in developing high-quality children’s educational materials (storybooks, textbooks, etc.).

* In-depth understanding of supplementary materials’ role in children’s reading skills and habits.

* Experience developing teaching and learning materials (TLM) and other instructional materials is a plus.

* Experience working directly with teachers and children is advantageous.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.
