Salary Range

INR 6 Lakh to 8 Lakh Per Annum (or even higher commensurate to experience)

Primary Role

The Associate Research Manager will be responsible for designing, planning and managing the full-scale research projects, monitoring project progress, supporting team members, implementing new methodologies, analysing data, generating insights and writing reports. The incumbent will participate in the process of evaluating the research problem, identifying the appropriate research methods, designing the research tools, operational plan, overseeing the data-acquisition process, quality assurance, data analysis, visualization and insighting. Writing policy reports and publishing policy papers is one of the key activities that the incumbent will be expected to do. The position offers opportunities for coordinating with the clients directly on various project activities and ensuring that the organisation meets the clients’ expectations. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Qualifications

Master’s degree in a relevant field (economics, geography, sociology, social work, political science, public policy, environment sciences, or related subject)

Experience

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience is required in social & market research organizational/field program experience. Experience of managing qualitative & quantitative research projects is essential. Experience of monitoring and evaluation, documentation, case studies and report writing is preferred.

  • Knowledge of research methods: Strong quantitative & qualitative research skills, including a demonstrable proficiency in one or more related analysis software.
  • Knowledge of MS-Office: Must know how to use MS-Office effectively, specifically, MS-Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge of Software Tools: SPSS, Advanced Excel, Stata, Tableau, Power-BI will be preferred.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to plan and execute research activities for projects and contribute to managing all phases of the project, including work plans and budgets. skilled in analyzing and interpreting data, as well as synthesizing findings into coherent and meaningful conclusions.
  • Knowledge of analytical software SPSS etc,
  • Communication skills: should be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including writing research reports and articles, presenting research findings, and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Research ethics: should have a strong understanding of research ethics and be able to apply ethical principles in all aspects of their work.
  • Teamwork: Excellent teamwork skills with an ability to work independently and under pressure and at short notice.

  • Quick learner who can apply consulting and project management skills to incubate new ideas successfully and run discrete projects through completion with modest oversight.
  • Ability to translate complex research findings into actionable messages (for donors, partners and other audiences).
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently and under pressure, as well as to contribute to team members’ work at short notice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, resourcefulness, ability to create systems and maintain and constantly improve the systems created are some of the important skills that are needed.
  • Ability and willingness to assume high-visibility in institutional roles, such as standing committee participation and collaboration with other researchers across and outside the organization. 

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Research, Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Under the guidance of the project director, lead conceptual development and implementation of the projects related deliverables.
  • Undertake data collection, analysis and synthesis of research findings on relevant issues.
  • Produce project-related technical deliverables, including research briefs, power point presentations, white papers, indicators and frameworks.

Project Management

  • Work in close collaboration with field team, team members, supervisors and project director to define strategic direction and work plans for projects.
  • Provide day-to-day management of project work plans, and ensure that project team, consultants and partners are on track with deadlines for deliverables.
  • Manage routine communications with the team, consultants, and partners on the routine functioning of projects; and produces project reports and updates, as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the project budget in coordination with the project lead.
