**Job Summary:**
The Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RM&E) Associate will provide crucial support to Room to Read’s Literacy Program in Giridih District, Jharkhand. Reporting to the District Lead, this one-year position involves designing, implementing, and analyzing program data to inform strategic decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
**Responsibilities:**
* Design, implement, and analyze monthly program implementation and monitoring indicators in collaboration with the District Lead, program team, and country office RM&E team. Develop and manage dashboards to communicate key insights.
* Collaborate with the national office (INCO) RM&E team to design monitoring forms for program feedback.
* Implement and maintain monitoring and evaluation efforts within the program.
* Regularly update and discuss data-related challenges and reflections with the INCO RM&E team.
* Analyze periodic data based on agreed-upon geographic and timing needs.
* Train and mentor staff on strong evaluation methodologies, ensuring adherence to M&E standards.
* Synthesize and analyze data, writing summary reports based on M&E results.
* Identify key issues impacting program quality and the links between monitoring, evaluation, quality assurance, and improvement.
* Recommend improvements to the District Lead, State Manager, and Senior Program Manager to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.
* Work with program and HQ staff to codify best practices for sharing across existing and new states of operation.
* Innovate new M&E systems and projects for continuous improvement.
* Regularly travel to urban and rural areas to oversee M&E implementation, train staff, and assess M&E practices.
* Stay informed on research and trends in monitoring and evaluation, recommending system improvements.
* Network with other non-profits for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
* Represent Room to Read in various forums, advocating for educational work in the developing world.
**Qualifications:**
* Master’s degree in education, development, social sciences, or a related field.
* Three years of professional experience in research, monitoring, and evaluation.
* Strong technical competence in research and M&E methods.
* Proven operational management skills with a results-oriented approach.
* Strong data visualization and analytical skills, including experience with Power BI for dashboard creation.
* Ability to travel frequently throughout India.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi.
* Strong understanding of education and gender issues, including community involvement in schools.
* Experience successfully implementing diverse tasks.
