Job Opportunity for Associate / Sr. Associate – Art, Training and Support at Akanksha Foundation in Pune

Overview of the team : ‘Art for Akanksha’ is the strongest co-curricular program that is offered to all students within the Akanksha network of schools across Mumbai, Pune & Nagpur. It aims to empower low-income children with a powerful art education, provides Akanksha alumni with art-related career opportunities and generates revenue through high-quality products.
Position Summary: The role of Associate / Sr. Associate, Pune is to strengthen art education in the Akanksha network through curriculum revisions, teacher development and introducing innovative opportunities and systems that build a deeper love for art among students.

Reporting to: IS, Pune, Art for Akanksha
Location: Base in Pune with monthly travel to Bombay

Specific responsibilities will include:

● Should come with a strong pedagogical background and should be able to support all art teachers across a cluster of schools. Expected to conduct classroom observations and provide continuous feedback to art teachers by working closely with the school leaders or mentors.

● Should support art teachers in developing and executing art lessons across grades K-10.

● Should conduct monthly check-in calls to monitor and evaluate the progress of art teachers, and identify key areas of support.

● Should onboard and orient new art teachers into the organisation.

● Should support schools in the design of teacher training and collaborative opportunities across various schools of Akanksha.

● Should develop and revise the Art curriculum on an ongoing basis.

● Should work with external partners to develop training, observations and support in person and over calls.

● Should gather art stories for social media.

What you need for this role:

● Ability to demonstrate a variety of strong pedagogical practices

● Clarity and understanding of art-related concepts

● Ability to integrate art with other academic subjects

● Strong Oral and Written communication skills

● Good planning and organizing skills

● Collaborates with different members in the team

● Creatively thinks of solving different problems at work

● Preferably 3-4 years of experience as a teacher

Commitment:

● Should be able to commit to a 2 year period for this role.
