Website The Udaiti Foundation

About The Udaiti Foundation:

The Udaiti Foundation is a Delhi-based not-for-profit foundation aimed at accelerating Womens Economic Empowerment (WEE) in India. Udaiti has been incubated by The Convergence Foundation by Ashish Dhawan to identify critical voids in the social sector and build strong, long-lasting organisations to solve complex problems. TCF, along with its network foundations, aims to achieve collective impact. Our vision is for a world where all women and girls have expanded choice and attain their full economic potential. Udaiti aims to act as a strategic influencer and force multiplier in the field, bringing together the non-profit with the public and private sectors. We believe that – the private sector can have an outsized impact; digital technology is a gamechanger; data-informed insights are critical; there is no scale like the government. Udaiti seeks to catalyse transformative change through strategic public & private partnerships for advocacy, applied research, and programs.

The Foundations mission is to increase womens share of quality jobs through expanding demand; and scaling womens enterprises & entrepreneurship. In that effort, the Foundation leverages a range of levers – data, applied research & insights; technical advisory support; solution generation; and co-creating strategic platforms for amplification and field-building.

Private sector is a critical partner across these levers, and Udaiti is expanding its work on how businesses can promote gender equality and womens empowerment – including representation – at the workplace and markets.

As an organisation, Udaiti is looking to address the lack of quality opportunities for women workers, along with challenges in accessing and advancing available opportunities, by building a range of strategic initiatives aimed at informing and influencing the private sector to advance womens economic empowerment. We believe that the private sector can have an outsized impact, and is absolutely critical. Our early work focuses on the demand for womens labour – i.e. influencing employers to reshape labour markets so there is positive demand for women in the workforce. This includes identifying and socialising interventions in the service sector (especially white collar jobs), start-up ecosystem and health sector. We will be engaging with the private sector through the utilisation of data as a lever, and through advocacy as a platform. Udaiti wants gender equality and inclusion to be a goal and wants to increase the representation of women across sectors and levels. We are looking to hire a private sector gender expert and advocate to anchor and co-shape this exciting agenda.
