Website Transform Rural India
Organisation Information
Since its inception in 2016, Transforming Rural India Foundation (TRI) has been deeply focused on an integrated approach to village development to accelerate mobility across all generations. We believe in bringing solutions through multi-sector changes through engaging community-based institutes like Self Help Groups (SHGs), Panchayati Raj Institutes (PRIs) and FrontLine Workers (FLWs) together to closely work with the government.
TRI works directly with more than one million people in 2000 villages across India’s poorest states and impacts close to over 60 million rural Indians through its formal engagement with governments at different levels.
Aimed at improving the rural livelihoods of women farmers in Uttar Pradesh to increase their average base income by 30%, TRI has started a special project. The two-year project is primarily focused on creating selfsustainable women-led FPOs (Farmer Producer Organization) and a platform for women farmers to strengthen and diversify their livelihoods.
Leveraging Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted by the Deendayal Antodaya Yojna-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), a government program, TRI will support women in productive roles within the FPOs, offering robust institutional aggregation to enhance market connections and boost earnings. The project will also work with community representatives on building soil organic carbon
through various methods of composting, ensuring soil vitality through precise testing and nutrient recommendations. It will further foster adaptive crop choices, encourage intercropping, and establish real-time agroadvisory from experts thereby bolstering a dynamic and resilient agricultural ecosystem.
