**Job Summary:**

This large-scale river basin conservation project in Maharashtra aims to drive a collaborative platform and program to address critical challenges of river basin health and promote sustainable water management practices.  Based in Mumbai, this role will spearhead this flagship initiative focused on the sustainable management of the Godavari River basin.  The Chief Manager will establish and nurture a robust network of partners, lead a mission-focused team, and drive the strategic vision. This requires exceptional leadership and collaboration skills to foster partnerships between businesses, government agencies, and civil society organizations (CSOs).  The role involves leading the assessment, development, and execution of a comprehensive action plan for the river basin, utilizing nature-based solutions (NBS) to achieve long-term sustainability.

**Responsibilities:**

* Develop and implement a comprehensive program for river basin conservation, aligned with project objectives and donor requirements.

* Establish and manage a collaborative platform bringing together diverse stakeholders (government agencies, municipalities, NGOs, private sector companies, and communities).

* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders; advocate for policies supporting sustainable river basin management.

* Provide effective leadership and guidance to a team of communication specialists, technical experts, and other project staff.

* Develop and implement a communication strategy to raise awareness about the project’s goals and achievements; manage media relations and public outreach.

* Track project progress against targets and indicators; prepare regular reports for donors and stakeholders.

**Qualifications and Experience:**

* Master’s degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or allied areas; Doctorate preferred.

* Minimum 6-7 years of experience working on environmental projects, with a strong focus on water conservation and natural resource management.

* Proven experience in program development, implementation, and management.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

* Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels.

* Experience in advocacy and public policy work is desirable.

* Strong leadership and team management skills.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi; knowledge of Marathi is a plus.

**Compensation:** INR 16.00 LPA-20.00 LPA (Depending on relevant experience)
