**Job Title:** Chief Health, P-5, Fixed Term Appointment

**Job Summary:**
The India Country Office seeks an experienced Chief of Health to manage and lead all aspects of UNICEF’s engagement in child health and well-being across India. This includes overseeing a network of 13 UNICEF Field Offices, strategic planning, program implementation, and achieving sustainable results aligned with UNICEF’s Strategic Plans and accountability framework. The role involves leading and managing the Health Section, supporting the broader UNICEF health network, and employing results-based management approaches.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Managerial leadership of the Health Section and broader health network.
* Programme development and planning for child health initiatives.
* Programme management, monitoring, and quality control to ensure results.
* Provision of advisory services and technical support to stakeholders.
* Advocacy, networking, and partnership building to advance child health goals.
* Fostering innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the team and across the network.
**Qualifications:**
* **Minimum Requirements:** A minimum of ten years of professional experience at the international level in one or more of the following areas: public health planning and management, global/international health, health policy and/or management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness. Demonstrated ability to provide strong programme, people, and thought leadership, direction, and mentorship to a team of senior technical experts. Proven experience leading and managing large programmes and teams.
* **Desirable Qualifications:** Strong technical expertise in the (public) health sector applicable to the Indian context; ability to foster multi-sectoral linkages (e.g., with education); demonstrated leadership in managing diverse teams; capacity to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics and engage effectively at high levels; openness to innovation; excellent communication and presentation skills; familiarity with the programming environment in India; developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency response; experience in a UN system agency or organization.
**Language Requirements:** Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
**Contract Type:** Fixed-term appointment (initial two years, with possibility of extension).
