Programme Context

The Department of Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), is on an ambitious reform agenda to improve the quality of the public school system and learning outcomes. This reform agenda focuses on accountability and governance, structural and administrative reforms, capacity building and learning from innovations and international best practices in pedagogy and delivery. Peepul has partnered with the Govt. of MP to strengthen learning outcomes for almost a decade. Through this partnership, we have also developed a deep understanding of the Madhya Pradesh context, education landscape, and administrative support structures at the ground level. Peepul is a critical partner to the Government of Madhya Pradesh in their flagship “CM RISE Schools” programme. We are partnering to build an Academic Support and Monitoring Unit (ASMU), to create exemplar public schools that provide high-quality holistic education to children across Madhya Pradesh. The CM RISE Schools are envisioned to showcase quality teaching-learning practices & innovative school management processes and act as visual exemplars in the school system for all others to learn and derive motivation from.

Role Description

The Communication Associate role includes – promoting the mission and vision of Peepul with an emphasis on enhancing understanding of the organization’s work; driving organizational and communications objectives ; co-ordinating with teams to create, collate and deliver textual, audio and visual content; ensuring consistency in all communications; building external and internal stakeholder trust and advocacy; building media relationships.

Responsibilities would include:

• Support in developing and executing the communications strategy for the organization.

• Creation, development and update of messaging materials

• Prepare content/materials for external meetings and speaking engagements (i.e. PowerPoint presentations,talking points, etc.).

• Manage organizations’ social media, website and digital communications etc.

• Write articles about Peepul’s work to create visibility for our impact

• Maintain consistency in branding and messaging across all communications

• Support the commsteam to execute strategy on press, media, thought leaderships

• Design collaterals and create videos

• Fundraising communications:

o Co-ordinate with teams to collect and create content for periodic donor reportsand proposals

o Co-ordinate with teams and stakeholders to collect / create quotes, testimonials,picturesfor donorsocialmedia

o Execute partnership press releases and online media visibility

o Support donor visits Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant work experience

• Bachelor/ Master degree and professional qualification in communication, media studies or relevant discipline is preferred

• Strong alignment with Peepul’s mission of providing quality education and building stronger education ecosystems in India

• Possess operational rigor, detail orientation, strong problem-solving skills, collaboration skills and analytical capability.

• Excellent communication skills: ability to articulate a clear vision to multiple stakeholders altering message, voice, approach as per the audience.

• Comfort with Office tools and creating compelling stories, familiar with working in virtual collaboration platforms like MS Teams etc.

• Curious to learn about the evolving space in Knowledge Management and comfortable with technology/ platforms.

• Skillful listener with an open style, good at facilitating discussion.

• Strong project management skill.

• Relevant prior experience with content/learning/content management systems and a good understanding of the principles of knowledge management.

• Ability to work collaboratively with all team members and create a positive team culture

• Ability to work effectively with colleagues based in different geographies and time zones

• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

• Enthusiastic to do whatever it takes willing to take personal accountability for delivery

• Enjoys working under pressure: flexible, highly organized, and able to prioritize work to meet deadline
