The Communications Coordinator equips leaders with the information and tools needed to support their communications efforts at World Vision, an organisation that works with partners, children and communities to bring life in all of its fullness to children, especially the most vulnerable. The role ensures leaders are informed, inspired, and engaged with their peers, staff, and external audiences through various platforms, including newsletters, social media, and a virtual community. The role also supports the Director of Leader Communications in implementing strategic communications activities in partnership with World Vision’s global leaders. The Communications Coordinator is passionate about enabling effective leader communications and is proficient in working through a multitude of communications methodologies and mediums to strengthen leader abilities and influence.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the content development and publication of the Ignite Global Leaders internal publication for World Vision’s top 100 leaders. Plan, commission, write, and edit compelling material that engages and instructs leaders, recognising and meeting their unique communications needs.

Support the Director of Leader Communications in working to strengthen trust and respect for World Vision’s global leaders, internally and externally. A major focus will be on storytelling and visual communication through various platforms, including social media.

Monitor and report on reach and engagement of communications channels and activities to assess impact, which may include collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative information. Information gleaned will be used to continuously refine, improve, and engender support for communications activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in storytelling, newsletters, or leadership communications
  • Has strong ability to network, develop, and maintain relationships that inspire trust and respect
  • Understanding of emerging trends, technology and practices affecting the humanitarian industry
  • Ability to make the best use of mobile, digital, and social media
  • Excellent track record of effectively working with and through others
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and listening skills; ability to translate complicated ideas, technical language and jargon into simple language; ability to articulate the multi-dimensional views of World Vision
  • Ability to respectfully challenge others to ensure in-depth understanding, using emotional intelligence to guide conversations and actions
  • University Degree and preferred post graduate studies in Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Ability to work 20 hours
