Position Summary

Teach For India Kolkata is seeking an entrepreneurial and dynamic Educational Consultant to address the challenges faced by Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) English medium schools, specifically the low enrollment rates and the need to enhance their brand image. This role requires a deep understanding of the Kolkata educational landscape, strong research and analytical skills, the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and a bias for action.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Research: Conduct an in-depth analysis of the current state of KMC English medium schools, including enrollment data, academic performance, infrastructure, curriculum, and any other relevant factors. Identify key challenges and opportunities.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including KMC officials, school administrators, teachers, parents, and local communities, to understand their perspectives, needs, and expectations.
• Solution Design: Develop innovative and practical solutions to improve enrollment rates and enhance the brand image of KMC English medium schools. These solutions should be tailored to the specific challenges and context of the schools.
• Implementation Plan: Create a detailed implementation plan outlining the steps, timelines, and resources required to execute the proposed solutions effectively.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish metrics to track the progress and impact of the implemented solutions. Regularly assess and adjust the strategies based on data-driven insights.
• Capacity Building: Provide training and support to KMC school staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure the successful implementation of the solutions.
• Community Engagement: Engage with local communities to build trust and encourage greater school involvement. Develop strategies to foster community support for KMC schools.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough records of all activities, findings, and outcomes. Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. 

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, business, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• A deep understanding of the Kolkata educational landscape, with 2+ years prior experience working in the education sector in Kolkata is a strong asset.
• Strong research and analytical skills to gather and interpret data effectively.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships with government officials, educators, parents, and community members.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action, demonstrating the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Previous experience in educational consulting, program management, or similar roles is desirable.
• Fluency in English and Bengali is required.
