About the Livelihoods Program

AIF’s Livelihoods program envisions a world where poor and vulnerable communities have access to dignified work opportunities, empowering them with sustainable livelihoods. Since 2006, our Livelihoods program has, directly and indirectly, reached more than 1.2 million beneficiaries. To enable a razor-sharp focus on the country’s livelihood issues, AIF has also initiated the Market Aligned Skills Foundation (MASF), a Section-8 company envisioned as a social start-up. Closely aligned to the Global Sustainable Development Goals, the program’s ‘Vision 2030’ focuses on seven “Pathways to Impact” with the goal of creating two million livelihoods and overall reaching out to ten million lives.

Position purpose: The Livelihood Expert will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing programs aimed at improving the economic well-being of individuals, communities and regions. This includes identifying potential livelihood opportunities, assessing the feasibility of those opportunities, and developing strategies to support the growth of livelihoods. The Livelihood Expert will also provide technical assistance, capacity building and training to communities and stakeholders, as well as collaborate with partners and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of
livelihood programs.

Key deliverables:

1. Conduct assessments to identify potential livelihood opportunities for rural women enterprise and assess the feasibility of those opportunities.

2. Provide technical assistance, capacity building and training to rural women entrepreneurs and stakeholders on livelihood-related issues.

3. Collaborate with partners and stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations and private sector entities, to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of livelihood programs.

4. Conduct research and analysis on livelihood-related issues and share findings with stakeholders and partners.

5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of livelihood programs and make recommendations for improvement.

6. Prepare regular reports on program implementation, progress and impact.

7. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of livelihoods and apply new knowledge and techniques to program design and implementation.

8. Any other task/responsibility assigned by the supervisor

Key Skills and Competencies:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, business, rural development, livelihood and social entrepreneurship or a related field.

2. At least 4 years of experience designing, implementing and managing livelihood programs, preferably in a state/central government project.

3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and innovatively.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

5. Experience in conducting assessments, developing strategies, and preparing work plans, budgets and monitoring and evaluation plans.

6. Knowledge of the latest trends, research and best practices in the field of livelihoods.

7. Fluency in English and Hindi (both written and spoken) is required.

8. Ability to travel frequently and work in remote areas with limited facilities and infrastructure.

9. Good knowledge of government schemes in field of livelihood, skills and entrepreneurship

Other: Monthly fees commensurate with experience.
