The Opportunity

The Consultant will be an integral part of the Sattva Knowledge Institute – Practice Area vertical, which is setting up a small and entrepreneurial team focused on the thematic area of livelihood. The person will focus on creating evidence-based knowledge derivatives such as primers, perspectives (Op-eds), data-led graphics and other such knowledge outputs to communicate and influence the sector towards creating sustainable and decent employment opportunities. The core focus of the team is on the future of work, gender and employment and scaling enterprises.

  • The Consultant will be responsible for a wide range of activities that are listed below.
  • Developing and strengthening the domain knowledge and practice of Livelihood for Sattva:
  • Overall accountability of development of knowledge derivatives (primer, opinion article, state of the sector report, policy brief etc.) to guide thinking around the big ideas
  • Steering activities related to identifying, managing, packaging, and disseminating key insights to advance technical practice and provide practitioners with tools they need to conduct better social impact work

Problem Solving and Analysis:

  • Identify and create multiple solutions for the problem at hand using different thinking approaches.
  • Structuring and performing analysis, synthesizing the information to share critical insights, forming new hypotheses
  • Conducting rigorous secondary and primary research to uncover the insights that support our recommendations to clients

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Building effective partnerships to co-create and co-disseminate knowledge
  • Facilitating knowledge-sharing events like Roundtables, podcasts seminars/ webinar, workshops as well as internal L&D sessions in collaboration with the Business units, and marketing team
  • Providing thematic level advisory support to the on-going client projects to manage profitability and quality of execution in close coordination with the business units

Institution Building

  • Leading internal strategic initiatives at the practice area or organizational level that help contribute towards Sattva’s continued development
  • Participate in building and strengthening internal systems and processes which contribute towards effective and efficient functioning of the practice area and organization
  • Contribute towards the development of junior team members, and towards a strong culture and working environment overall

Background And Qualifications

The Consultant should have the following:

  • 4 to 6 years of professional experience in a role involving strong research, writing and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated interest or knowledge in the livelihood sector, preferably in skilling and employment, gender and labour force, scaling MSMEs
  • Strong research skills – quantitative and qualitative, primary research exposure
  • Strong problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to identify business issues, form hypotheses, design and conduct analyses, and synthesise insights into recommendations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; strong executive presence
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with people at different levels in an organisation
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively in verbal and written forms
  • Proficiency in English through Powerpoint, Word and Excel
