Reporting to: Senior Manager, National Alumni Impact 

Please note that this is a full time Consultant contractual role for a period of 1 year, open to long term renewal.

The Alumni Impact team at Teach For India is working closely on building a movement of people who advocate and act collectively for educational equity. Our team focuses on curating opportunities for the Alumni network to connect, learn and collaborate. 

As a Consultant, the role would entail enabling an active, thriving, learning and growing Alumni community that fuels progress towards the organization’s North Star. 

This work involves fostering strong, meaningful relationships with our Alumni and leveraging these efforts to improve Alumni ownership, engagement and collaboration. You will play a crucial role to unleash the power of our Alumni to learn and act collectively nationally, with an intention to change the status quo for children. 

Responsibilities

Activating the Network:

  • Design and execute new initiatives that will bring the Alumni and Alumni-led organizations to mobilize people/resources, advocate for shared causes and collaborate with each other (including Teach For India)
  • Own the design and execution of large-scale events at the national level, like education conferences, dialogues, upskilling spaces
  • Moderate, create and disseminate content and information for the Alumni network, WhatsApp/Telegram groups and other social media channels
  • Create and share a quarterly communication with Alumni to instill a sense of pride to be a part of the network and to amplify the voice of our Alumni

Building Learning Communities:

  • Identify and nurture key Alumni who can anchor Communities of Practice (CoPs) across various prioritized pathways developed by Teach For India within education
  • Invite Alumni to galvanise around high-leverage problem statements and inspire action within their community and networks, on key barriers faced by children 
  • Organize recurring spaces for peer learning and support

Managing data & impact:

  • Maintain the Alumni Impact Dashboard that helps us track and report Alumni engagement data across projects and periodically share these with national and regional teams 
  • Liaise with the Communications vertical to plan creative campaigns, newsletters, podcasts, reports, etc. that spread stories of individual and collective impact 

Additional responsibilities 

  • Contribute plans, tools, project resources and more, to support the city Alumni leads leading similar efforts across all 8 cities
  • Feed insights from the work of Alumni community building back into our Core Program
  • Be a thought partner to the Senior Manager and the Vertical Head to enable collective action through various projects

As a Staff member at Teach For India 

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in any field
  • 3-5+ years of relevant work experience in external-facing roles (e.g. partnerships, public relations, government relations, business development)
  • Interest in exploring social movements
  • Experience in managing, executing, and taking complete ownership of multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and influence others without authority
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver compelling stories/messages through various media to a variety of audiences
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to solve complex programmatic and people-related challenges
  • A growth mindset, with an underlying belief, that one’s abilities and competencies can be developed through dedication, hard work and practice
