Background
The American India Foundation Trust is committed to improving the lives of India’s underprivileged, with a special focus on women, children, and youth. The Foundation does this through high impact interventions in education, health, and livelihoods because poverty is multidimensional. Through its unique value proposition, working closely with local communities, the Foundation partners with NGOs to develop and test innovative solutions and with governments to create and scale sustainable impact. Founded over two decades ago, in the aftermath of the devastating Gujarat earthquake, as a humanitarian initiative by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji and Bill Clinton, AIFT has impacted the lives of 16.51 million of India’s poor across 36 States and Union Territories of India. About the Livelihoods Program
AIFT’s Livelihoods program envisions a world where poor and vulnerable communities have access to dignified work opportunities, empowering them with sustainable livelihoods. Since 2006, Livelihoods program has directly and indirectly served 1.4 million beneficiaries. The program takes a unique market relevant approach, while leveraging technology to provide knowledge, skills, and opportunities to underprivileged youth, marginalized women and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to secure jobs, manage enterprises, and make a respectable living. To enable a razor-sharp focus on the country’s livelihood issues, AIFT has also initiated the Market Aligned Skills Foundation (MASF), a Section-8 company envisioned as a social start-up. Multiple innovations have been introduced to resurrect lives and livelihoods upended by COVID-19. Removing systemic barriers like long duration of loan approvals, and default in loan repayments; Project Entre-Prerana is creating robust financial linkages by engaging an innovative AI enabled underwriting and loan disbursal platform. Leveraging technology to mine and meet inclusive and remote job opportunities in the post-COVID era, AIFT’s one of its kind AI-enabled platform, “Inclusive Jobs Portal https://inclusivejobs.in,” aims to bring together equal opportunity and inclusive employers with talented candidates from the underserved communities of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and the “Remote Jobs Portal- https://remote.inclusivejobs.in/” aims to create synergies to match organizations looking for a diverse pool of qualified and skilled women aspirants, from inaccessible, rural, remote and aspirational districts around the country.
