**Job Description: Consultant – Punjabi Translator**
**Location:** Remote (25-30 hours per week)
**Time Commitment:** Part-Time
**Reporting To:** Team Lead – Product/Curriculum

Our vision is to revolutionize education by fostering 21st-century skills through innovative and inclusive learning experiences. We empower students from marginalized backgrounds in India using technology with AI and NLP-powered WhatsApp chatbot, TAP Buddy, which offers co-curricular electives such as Visual and Performing Arts, Coding, STEM, and Financial Literacy. Currently impacting over 34,000 students across ten states in India, TAP aims to reach 100,000 students by 2025 through government partnerships.
**Role Summary:**
As a Punjabi Translator Consultant at TAP, you will translate and review educational content, proofread video materials, integrate translations into video formats, collaborate with the UX team on user messages, and test user interaction journeys. You must ensure accurate, contextually appropriate, and culturally relevant translations while working independently and meeting deadlines.
**Key Job Areas:**
– **Translation and Content Review:** Translate educational content, quiz questions, messages for BOT, documents, and materials from English to Punjabi. Proofread and review translated video content based on TAP’s guidelines, providing clear, constructive feedback. Ensure translations are accurate, contextually appropriate, and culturally relevant.
– **Video Integration and Editing:** Integrate translated questions into video formats using basic video tools (willingness to learn video editing tools is essential). Review and edit videos post-translation to ensure alignment with original content.
– **User Engagement and Experience Testing:** Collaborate with the User Experience (UX) team to design and translate weekly messages for TAP users. Ensure messages are relatable, culturally appropriate, and contribute to a seamless user experience. After integrating all user-facing elements (videos, messages, quizzes), test the entire weekly user interaction journey. Verify the logical flow, functionality, and accuracy of each element to ensure a high-quality user experience.
**Skills:**
– Language Proficiency: Must have proficiency in reading, writing, and translating Punjabi. Strong command of the English language. Strong command of spelling, grammar, and cultural nuances in Punjabi.
– Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and high-quality translations. Strong proofreading and editing skills for translated content.
– Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Availability to work a minimum of 25 hours per week within the timeframe of 10 AM to 6 PM.
– Cultural Awareness: Understanding of cultural nuances to ensure translations are contextually appropriate.
– Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and understand project requirements. Proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets and other basic MS tools. Basic familiarity with video editing tools (like Canva) and willingness to learn new software.
**Qualifications & Experience:**
– Bachelor’s degree in Translation or a related field. Prior experience in translation or bilingual content creation is preferred but not mandatory. Strong command of Punjabi and English languages.

**Compensation:**
Rs. 100 to 150/- per hour, provided at par with the sector benchmark for this position in alignment with the individual’s prior experience and qualifications.
