Quest Alliance has implemented the Secondary Schools program since 2015 with a focus on introducing coding and 21st-century skills to students across grades 8th and 9th. In 2019 the secondary school program expanded to 8 states across 850 schools reaching over 2 lakh students with a sharpened focus on STEM. The program includes new technology exposure, career counseling, life skills development and gender sensitization through classroom and computer lab sessions that involve school authorities, teachers, volunteers and parents to create an ecosystem that encourages girls to pursue STEM. In Karnataka, our work covers 320 schools with an outreach of about 42,000.

As part of the Secondary Schools program, there are three key projects: STEM for Girls, MyCode and EcosySTEM project. Within the Schools program, the position will anchor the Learning Experience for Karnataka and support other aspects of content and capacity building for the larger schools team with a 60-40 distribution of the role respectively.

The aim of this project will be the following:

● Teacher content and capacity development: Build capacities of teachers for digital literacy, effective pedagogies to teach digital skills, build STEM mindsets, and 21st-century skills – all in alignment with the NEP through a blended learning approach using the MasterCoach app and online mentoring

● Develop and support to implement content for HM Change Leaders Karnataka

● Develop and support to implement of content for Primary Schools based on the Quest Anandshala model.

As a Content Coordinator, your role will not just be critical to the development of content and plan capacity building around the same but also support the implementation team to understand and take it ahead, communicate to different stakeholders and hold understanding and alignment within the team. You will also be involved in critical program learning experience innovations and development at a central level.

Responsibilities

Content Development, Capacity Building and Implementation Support

● Anchor the content and capacity-building work plan and ensure all deliverables are met

● Take responsibility for effective content creation, curation, and capacity building for Teachers, HM leadership and Primary Schools.

● Understand existing content, research, customize, create, and curate – all of this will be critical to your role.

● Ensure that there is a plan for the implementation of content and regular catch-up and monitoring to see its effectiveness to feedback into closing gaps/loops.

● Anchor discussions with internal and external teams (consultants) and follow the processes to onboard consultants/agencies in content development.

● Identify and Design the learning journey of Teachers, HMs and children: the key stakeholders.

● Facilitate relevant meetings or Trainings as needed.

● Provide coordination support for content curation and training support facilitation by working closely with the Learning Experience Team.

● Drive experimentation and innovation strategies.

● Work closely with the state program team to develop a roadmap for content and capacity-building requirements.

● Work closely on new content projects and learning experience journeys as they emerge within the school’s program ecosystem.

Monitoring and review

● Support the monitoring tool development for the approach

● Review data dashboards and share reflections and insights with the team which can contribute to reviews

● Give insights from the lens of contextualization of learning experience

● Make regular school visits, and interact with teachers, students and facilitators to collect feedback on the approach

● Make classroom observations to observe the implementation on the ground

● Identify areas of innovation and further improvisation

● You will have to work very closely with the Ed-tech team and the state teams.

● Regular communication and being part of state reviews and coordination spaces will be an important part of your role.

Required skills and Experience:

● Minimum 5 to 6 years of work experience, in implementing school transformation approaches in the government school context

● Hands-on experience with working on gender, coding/ computational skills/ STEM and life and career skills for school students

● Prior experience in content development and implementation and teacher capacity building

● Willingness to learn and influence prevalent practices in the education ecosystem

● Relevant education qualifications for handling pedagogy, STEM, gender and life skills content

● Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English

● Excellent IT skills

● Willingness to travel extensively

● Ability to train, build the capacity of, and manage relationships with stakeholders

● Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other teams

● Strong reading, writing and speaking skills in Kannada are a must and English will be the working language. Knowledge of other regional Indian languages would even be better.

Qualifications

● A Postgraduate degree in Social Work/Education/Social Sciences

● 8-10 years of work experience preferably in the Education sector

● Proven ability to network and establish collaborative relationships with a variety of actors, including the Education department

● Good understanding and practical experience in STEM

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kannada (mandatory).

● Managing remote teams
