Title: Content Specialist, Sustainalytics, a Morningstar company

Location: Open to hybrid and remote work models 

Hybrid model – Partial work from home option where employees work from the Morningstar Mumbai offices 2-3 days a week (subject to change as per organizational directive)
Remote model – 100% work from home option (agreed in writing during the hiring process and subject to a periodic review)

Team: The Impact Pillar within ESG Research team has set-up a small team of ESG Content Specialists, to support our impact research teams in Poland, Romania, and India. The research scope includes social, green- and sustainable economic activities, but also negative product areas (e.g. tobacco, palm oil) and controversial weapons research. The ESG Impact Content Team supports our research teams with the interpretation of regulations like the EU Action Plan and the implementation of related research methodologies. The team supports internal content inquiries and performs quality checks on research content to ensure qualitative deliveries to clients.  Next to joining calls with internal and external stakeholders representing the research team, the team also helps improve analyst and indicator guidance documentation.

Role: The ESG Content Specialist (Impact) will support our research teams with the interpretation of relevant regulatory requirements and the implementation of related research methodology. An engineering background is a strong asset to understand and be able to make decisions on the sustainability of industry- and company-level activities. Some of the research areas are still in development and the content specialist will monitor new developments and support research teams with developing and implementing of new research guidance.

This position’s purpose is to support internal content inquiries and perform quality checks on research content to ensure qualitative deliveries to clients.  Next to joining calls with internal and external stakeholders representing the research team, it is also expected the content specialist will help improve analyst and indicator guidance documentation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop expertise in understanding the EU Action Plan and be able to translate this to research requirements
  • Track developments in sustainable environmental and social activities, including current and emerging thematic trends, drivers, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape, etc.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the Impact research and methodology and help translate it in effective operational processes
  • Develop deep understanding of each indicator as defined by the research, interpret corporate disclosures and support analyst with the assessment of corner cases
  • Contribute to the improvement of analyst guidance and training on the Impact research
  • Develop, together with manager/team lead, a strategy to enhance content skills among analysts
  • Support the research teams in making robust assessments in corner cases where guidance does not suffice
  • Perform content quality checks on the research
  • Provide service/support to the Client Relations and Product teams in answering client inquiries in calls and e-mails
  • Support the Issuer Relations team in providing high quality responses towards issuers
  • Provide research insights, supporting the development of whitepapers or other material that can be published by Sustainalytics
  • Collaborate with colleagues across global teams and offices 

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of related work experience (in research and/or consulting);
  • Degree(s) in related discipline (business, sustainability and/or engineering)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Strong knowledge of international and regional standards, taxonomies, and regulatory initiatives relevant to sustainable finance
  • Knowledge of sustainable and responsible investment and debt capital markets
  • Client-oriented, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment
  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance
  • Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values
